• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    How can I make a 900 more Rally-like?

Ron, she is not looking for an "off-road vehicle" per her statement of " I don't intend any off-road riding" This is her history http://xlforum.net/forums/showthread.php?t=1807394&highlight=greer

Are there any mods to quieten the OEM Exhaust on a Rally?

I'll second the comments from Pegasus1300. The stock muffler noise level is affected by cruising at 7,000 RPMs (sometimes 8,000)

    How can I make a 900 more Rally-like?

As much fun as I found the Ryker to be, my decision to sell was due to: 1. High RPM cruising 2. 33 MPG average 3. 10K mile belt replacement ...but it was comfortable for 460 mile days (Extraterrestrial Highway)

    How can I make a 900 more Rally-like?

Coming back from Bryce Canyon along highway 12, I stopped for lunch in a parking lot with deep gravel. To climb the incline back to the highway, I had to approach at a angle to get traction. That was my only traction issue. It did fine on several miles of rough road on my 6 day 1115 mile...

    How can I make a 900 more Rally-like?

6,000 mile report, May 7 to Oct 22, 2020 (5 1/2 months) Positive 1. The Ryker is a lot of fun, whether instant acceleration from any speed or aggressive cornering. 2. Many design aspects are very practical, from exhaust layout to a bit of storage in the glovebox. 3. The driveshaft/swingarm...

New Ryker recall posted today for front fender wiring

Came off right side on mine (2020), twice. The second time I drilled into the plastic tab, removed the clip and cable tied the wiring to the tab.

NGK CR8EB plug gap not always right!

Suspect you meant 0.7 mm, which is 0.02758 (0.028) inch BTW, NGK 7784 stock copper spark plugs may be replaced by NGK 4128 iridium Thus far, each iridium plug I have used has been properly gapped by factory

Startup issues on Ryker 900 - is it normal to add coolant?

What is temperature gauge reading? Once mine warmed up (1/2 mile around the community at 15 MPH in summer) the reading was steady. A mechanical thermostat controls coolant flow. An electrical sensor controls fan operation. Does fan operate...

..EMERGENCY .. for 2022 RYKER owners - recall on Handle-bar bolts!

Yes, and a major benefit of a forum for those who are mechanically inclined. My post #62 response was in answer to post #59: "Wish I could just go out and by the bolt and fix it myself." To fulfill that wish, the bolt can be removed, length measured, then inspected if either minimal thread...

..EMERGENCY .. for 2022 RYKER owners - recall on Handle-bar bolts!

Remove yours, measure length, inspect if either minimal thread contact or bottoming. Then get longer (105 mm?) or shorter (95mm?) from M8-1.25x100 (8mm - 1.25 pitch x 100 mm) grade 8.8 Probably not at Home Deport or Lowes, but very likely at Ace or TrueValue or autoparts

Tires - what speed rating, H or T?

Good logic ButterSmooth. For info on high speed tires, Google Goodyear Eagle Enforcer tires with a V (149) speed rating for law enforcement. Although I have BRIEFLY checked max speed on my bikes, sustained speeds have been within 10, maybe 15 MPH of speed limit. In Utah on interstate 15...

Shift problem after bike sits o/night but fm then OK - Any ideas?

Oil viscosity? If it is the clutch plates sticking together, rocking back and forth in gear, before starting, will unstick on a M/C. I had that issue on a new TW200, parked in 60F garage for a couple days, but not after the first oil change to 20/50 pure synthetic.

What brand of coolant/anti-freeze is BRP using?

Possible chemical interactions?: In 1977, I sold a 71 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu to a friend. I had used only 10/30 Quakerstate since new; but my friend liked Castrol (which I have mainly used for Japanese and British bikes). He switched, but complained that it was using oil. Previously, the 307...

What brand of coolant/anti-freeze is BRP using?

After extensive searching, including other CanAm web sites, OAT or HOAT is not stated by XPS. If XPS (BRP) is 2 year life, is it probably OAT, which does not include the nitrites of HOAT https://xpslubricants.com/us/en/779150-extended-life-pre-mixed-coolant.html

What brand of coolant/anti-freeze is BRP using?

Thank you, corrected: 5.1 is glycol based and 5.0 silicone At least one member read my post! Improperly mixing brake fluid may not have immediate repercussions, but long term can be serious. Dot 3, Dot 4 and Dot 5.1 are all compatible, if temperature is not an issue. Dot 3 with glycol and...

My Ryker's been down one month yesterday 6-23-22

Interesting The original part number for 2019 and 2020 was 709000810, but replaced by 548874036 For 2021 and up it is 709001261, so maybe the dealer received 548874036 instead of 709001261 Quieter? https://www.canampartshouse.com/oemparts/a/cam/62a74b38647df38e2c4bea79/engine-fuel

What brand of coolant/anti-freeze is BRP using?

Anecdotal responses may be supportive/encouraging, but caution should be exercised concerning mixing OAT with HOAT, due to the possibility of chemical interaction, resulting in gelling, despite Prestone's claim. If already done, then check the radiator and/or radiator overflow tank. May not...

..EMERGENCY .. for 2022 RYKER owners - recall on Handle-bar bolts!

The bolt length (too short or too long?) does not correspond to the NHTSA link in post #2, nor the BRP link in post #3. So, is the truth that (1) bolts have actually broken or (2) the steering has loosened from (a) bolt bottoming out or (b) bolts have stripped threads from insufficient engagement?

What brand of coolant/anti-freeze is BRP using?

I viewed the ads, but still concerned about the caution in the post 7 Napa link: On the surface, it seems like a hybrid between IAT and OAT would be compatible with either, but that’s not the case. They may share similar names, but the chemical recipe is different enough that manufacturers do...
