• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Battery Life

My Yuasa bit me, 10 months being pampered and it left me on the side of the road with a failed cell. Always charged with a battery tender whenever parked. Garage kept. Luck of the draw I guess. Or I'm cursed. I usually have much better luck with Yuasa and AGM, but not this time. Prompted...

    2018 RTL GPS/Accessory 12 VDC Keyed circuit

I may be showing my ignorance, but my 2018 model doesn't have a single dedicated out in the open 12 VDC source. I'm making an assumption here, based on normal power and data protocols. USB is almost always 5 volts, having a 12 volt USB would certainly fry some equipment. So somewhere in the...

Just got the New Version V20.80 Firmware on my 2018 RT

Mr. Monk, Do not be surprised if you get some BS from the dealer. Mine hadn't heard that the RT needed the upgrade, VIN didn't have the designation for upgrade, etc. etc. I finally had them run it as a warranty fix issue as my trip gauges weren't working as advertised. From the 10.5 to the...

Just bought my 1st Can Am......have questions

I'm and old cruiser foot brake stomper, got used to it many moons ago. I will say this about switching from a Nomad to the Spyder RT. It takes time to learn the idiosyncrasies of these machines, so be patient. I didn't like the long foot pedal as it was, it took up the whole front portion of...

Garmin 595 Install on 2016 RT

I bought some AMP Superseal 1.5 connectors off of Ebay to hook up the power to the connector behind the tank. I didn't hook up anything else as I didn't need it. Getting the big harness connector through the steering head is tough, and pulling the right headlight makes the job easier. I have...

    Progressive Insurance Non- Renewal Notice

+1 on Dairyland. I dropped Markel Bikeline because they kept going up until they got non-competitive.

Just bought my 1st Can Am......have questions

Congrats on the new ride. I'm short and round, so the tallboy seat ins't on my list. But, I did read somewhere the BRP Comfort Seat is for taller folks, and while it probably isn't as good as the Ultimate seat it's also probably somewhat cheaper. You may also find one on the for sale part of...

    RT rear shock and airbag

Mr Bill lists his as a 2015 RT. Does that model have the automatic system or the high/low switch?

    Extended warranty

I chose the BEST over aftermarket because of something I was told, but didn't verify (so take it for what it's worth). The BEST warranty will be honored at all Can Am dealerships, while aftermarket warranties may or may not be accepted. I want to go cross country on mine, so the possibility of...

New Battery Died and sat on a 2020 RTL

I will say the Deka AGM replacement has a 1 year warranty. May be time to quit Yuasa brand. The Deka is also made in Pennsylvania.

New Battery Died and sat on a 2020 RTL

You sir, are 100% correct. Shows what happens when you assume and fail to RTFM! End up looking like a moron! Thanks for pointing that out, I missed it completely!

New Battery Died and sat on a 2020 RTL

It may have actually been an AGM, but I couldn't verify that. It's listed only as a sealed lead acid, which could include the AGM variety.

    2nd BEST warranty?

Just make sure the dealer is talking BEST as there are some options for aftermarket plans, and I believe I saw some with a slightly longer duration. I got the BEST warranty as I understand some of the aftermarket plans don't work at every dealership, but BEST is supposedly accepted everywhere...

New Battery Died and sat on a 2020 RTL

Yeah, I know. As to the 2020, the floorboards, brake ergonomics, and seating position absolutely are the way to go. I would however, wait until they get the bugs ironed out. The Rotax power train seems to be bulletproof, and all the other mods that made by "blending" the RTL and the F3 seems...

New Battery Died and sat on a 2020 RTL

I think Mr. Fatboy was addressing me. I will readily admit that I'm not a fanboy of the Spyder, but in my situation it is still the best choice (for me). I did all my research, and approached the purchase with trepidation based on all the known issues I'd read about on here and elsewhere. I...

New Battery Died and sat on a 2020 RTL

What are we, 13? This post isn't by Felecia, so use adult words when talking with adults. I'm not a fanboy, so maybe you should consider using the ignore action on my posts.

    RT rear shock and airbag

An RT Limited will have the auto leveling system. You can verify this by looking at the left side of the swing arm, about half way down there will be a bolt with a lever arm going to a sensor. This sets the level via the computer using predetermined settings. As I said previously, the rear...

    RT rear shock and airbag

While I didn't have a leak I chose to make some modifications. The RTL model has an automatic air leveling system that maintains the rear ride height at a predetermined level based on the calibration of the sensor attached to the right side of the swing arm. The RT may not have this. On my...

New Battery Died and sat on a 2020 RTL

The young lady at the service counter told me that while BRP rejected the warranty claim she would work with the dealers management to see if there was a resolution. I'll let you know how this goes. Seriously though, BRP released the 2020 RTL before the parts were even correctly fit. Ty-Raps...

New Battery Died and sat on a 2020 RTL

Update on the battery failure. Even though it's only been in service 10 months, BRP isn't going to warranty the battery because it's a wear and tear item. This is a dick move by a crappy company. I'm beginning to regret my move to Can Am.
