• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Just bought - 2014 Spyder RT-S SE6 77K miles with RT-622 trailer

To be fair, I have a new 2021 RT Limited and the OEM tires it came with aren't that bad. Mine tracks straight and true and corners reasonably well for what it is. I'm sure better dampers with stiffer spring rates would improve handling with my weight, perhaps even a better sway bar too, but it...

What's the one thing you think is Useless Junk on your Spyder?

Just that the reverse button is a kind of lockout button rather than a reverse select, so you have to press the button and then downshift to select reverse. I'm suggesting that it would be better from a user perspective if the reverse button was actually a physical reverse selector. It's not a...

What's the one thing you think is Useless Junk on your Spyder?

I think it should work as follows: 1. If you start the machine it starts in neutral. Brakes must be applied to start and vehicle must be stationary. 2. If you select up shift from neutral it goes into 1st gear. Selecting down shift from neutral would remain in neutral. Brakes must be applied...

What's the one thing you think is Useless Junk on your Spyder?

Now you see, I'm the opposite. It's been a long time since any of my cars had manual transmissions. Obviously my motorcycles do, but somehow they seem to be in a different category in my mind. I would prefer my RT LTD to have a fully automatic transmission (not a double clutch or CVT though)...

What's the one thing you think is Useless Junk on your Spyder?

On 2021 RT Limited I would have been happy without: 1. The sound system and the Bluetooth comms. Helmet comm systems and a cell phone are a much better system. Can then remove all the electrical control switches and harnesses too. 2. Connect software. Cellphone systems are much better. The app...

2020 RTL brake issue - it's eating rotors! HELP?

Perhaps if your caliper is binding sufficiently to get the rotor hot enough to warp, just jacking up each side and spinning the corresponding wheel while applying and releasing the brakes might show if the caliper is binding or not releasing. It would have to be a reasonable amount of friction...

2020 RTL brake issue - it's eating rotors! HELP?

If it happens most at a particular speed, then it might be quite a subtle item that is causing the problem at a particular harmonic. I would also make sure that you don't have a slight bend in a wheel rim (out of round or side to side out of true), a significantly out of balance or defective...

Still Riding? I think I am now done for the season...

It's been really mild here so far this year. Temps in the 50s and 60s for weeks now. Not much precipitation all year. They say it might snow next week, here at about 5000 feet. Usually it snows each year by Halloween, but not this year. Ski resorts are hurting, not just from Covid. Just took...

    Hit debris on the freeway.

Deer are a constant nuisance here in Utah. Oh, they are very cute, but I've had a couple of four wheel vehicles really messed up by them. They come down into the built up areas from the mountains because silly people, like our nearest golf course management, feed the darned things in winter. I...

    Hit debris on the freeway.

I still have my Triumph Bonneville T120 (2018) but I would not trade my Spyder for another 2 wheeler. To do long runs two up in comfort, I'm too old with too bad arthritis to do that on a big touring or sports touring bike anymore. I miss my Triumph Trophy SE, absolutely brilliant bike, but it...

2020 RT Limited Rear Suspension - Fault Warning?'

I tried an experiment today. I measured the air pressure in the rear suspension at the Schrader valve under the seat. It read about 43 PSI. So I wondered, that's probably the right pressure from when I road back from the last visit to the dealer a couple of days ago. So I let the air out down...

2020 RT Limited Rear Suspension - Fault Warning?'

It's a bit irritating. My prior Triumph Trophy TTSE had a really usable electronic suspension control systems that worked really well, so it can be done. OK, so that thing calibrated itself when you started off, not dynamically on the road, but it worked really well. It even had a really nice...

Looking for Laser Alignment near San Antonio Texas

I agree. I would have thought they would not have got Canadian or US type approval if they weren't stable at normal freeway speeds, if assembled and adjusted correctly.

2020 RT Limited Rear Suspension - Fault Warning?'

I bought a new 2021 Spyder RT Limited a few months ago. Threw code C210A for the rear suspension on the way home. Went back a few times, they discovered the rear linkage was not connected during the PDI. Threw the code again on the way home. Took it back, they replaced the rear ride height...

Looking for Laser Alignment near San Antonio Texas

If the rear wheel is aligned "reasonably" straight and "centered" and the front wheels have "a little and equal" toe in and the bars are "centered" I think it should be OK. For instance, castor angle and camber changes are much more noticeable than small variations in front and rear toe on cars...

    Hit debris on the freeway.

Well I hope the Bosch folks who developed the code did better than the folks who developed my Bosch dish washer :-) It doesn't surprise me Bosch helped develop it, they do these kind of real time systems for bikes and cars. All joking aside, I knew there must be more to it all than just the...

    Hit debris on the freeway.

In my case the left wheel came up off the road by I would guess 6" or more, so as I was probably braking (happened too fast to know exactly what I was doing) I'm sure the left wheel was causing the ABS to think it was locked up due to lack of rolling resistance. That in turn may have led to the...

    Hit debris on the freeway.

I think I'm good with one tire as they have only done 800 miles or so.

    Hit debris on the freeway.

If I change the tires I think the combination of 165/65r15 Continental Contipatch TX's on the front and a 225/50r15 Kumho Ecsta AST (KU25) on the rear is about as close as I could get from the available sizes, brands, types and expected general performance. Not a lot of choice after Kensa k9 or...
