• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Bummed out waiting for a part

Good news, finally. After almost exactly 3 months, the sensor came in and the dealer called me to say the bike was ready to be brought to my home. In better weather I would have gone over immediately to get the RT and ride it the 12 miles to my garage, but with salt on the roads and temps...

    Can-Am dealers not hungry?

Its certainly not limited to Can Am. A few years back I decided to buy a Goldwing. I went to a dealer that I had used for service on another Honda and had been pleased with them. They quoted me the full MSRP for a new Goldwing, tried to convince me that they literally make zero profit on the...

Bummed out waiting for a part

At this point, while still waiting for the dealer to get the needed part and effect the repair, it doesn't much matter whether it happens in the next few days or the next few months since I won't be riding anyway. But in the three years I have had my Spyder I have been so pleased with it that a...

Bummed out waiting for a part

Its now TWO MONTHS that my 2021 RT has been sitting at the dealer awaiting a part from CanAm. Up until the speed sensor went bad and put me into Limp Home mode the Spyder has been flawless, but this is really souring me on CanAm. The dealer keeps apologizing and now tells me that the part is...

Bummed out waiting for a part

A month ago today I dropped off my Spyder at the local CanAm dealer (where I have had no complaints whatsoever about their service in the 3 years that I have owned my 2021 RT). My Spyder had gone into "Limp Home mode" and it turned out it was due to a faulty speed sensor. Now, a month later...

Wondering how many owners do not know this is possible?

Owned my RT for 3 years and never knew this. Might come in handy someday, such as when shutting off the engine might strand me if the bike would not start right up again. But up until now, for the few times that I wanted something in the frunk while the bike was running, it was not a big deal to...

Warranty Question - Would you let a regular M/cycle shop fit a rear tire?

I keep reading about how crappy the OEM tires are, but I have had no problem with mine at all. I'm at 17,000 miles with my 2021 RT and my front tires are the originals and still look and feel fine. I replaced the rear tire with another OEM tire by the CanAm dealership at about 15,000 miles and...

Never Say a Spyder Can't Flip

I suspect that the trailer had a lot to do with it. I'm not the most aggressive rider on my Spyder, but I often take curves faster than virtually any of the four wheelers around me, and I have yet to have any problem at all, let alone a feeling that I might flip the trike. I'm not delusional...

Absence makes the heart grow fonder - I miss my Spyder!

I think this is true for motorcycles. I had to bring my Spyder RT to the shop almost two weeks ago, and I am still waiting for it. Took over a week before they could look at it, and now am awaiting a part. I have another bike, a fun little Royal Enfield Hunter 350, but I find that I really miss...

My Problem Free time with the RT is over!

Turns out it was a bad rear speed sensor, for which the dealer is awaiting the new part. But I am having them put in a new battery as well. Hopefully I will have my Spyder back shortly, but who knows how long it will take for them to get the needed part.

My Problem Free time with the RT is over!

The dealer finally got to look at the RT yesterday, after sitting at the dealer for 10 days, I am awaiting a call from the service manager. I did tell them that even if the battery seems OK, to go ahead and replace it. I'm hoping that is all that it needs but I will hopefully know more today...

My Problem Free time with the RT is over!

In the first 3 years of owning the RT, bought new in 2021, I had not had a single problem. That ended about 2 weeks ago when out for a normal ride, suddenly the bike went into "Limp Home Mode" with several warning lights flashing on the screen including a warning "VSS failure". I was able to...

How do you mange riding a Spyder and a motorcycle?

When I traded in my Goldwing for my Spyder I didn't want to totally leave the 2 wheel community. So a year later I bought a little thumper, a single cylinder 350cc Royal Enfield Hunter 350. I probably rider the Hunter about 1/3rd as often as the Spyder. But on really hot days I prefer to take...

PedalBox and Pedal Commander - what do they do and how do they work?

I've only been riding motorcycles for a bit over 40 years, so maybe I don't yet have enough experience to judge, but my stock 2021 RT's throttle response seems just fine to me. I can normally get ahead of the cages from a dead stop, but don't have any desire to try to beat out the sport bikes...

Are Tire 'Flat Stoppers' necessary for winter storage??

I'll add one item to the winterizing regimens mentioned here. In addition to the Battery Tender, Stabil in a full fuel tank, and NOTHING under the tires, I stuff rags into the exhaust pipes to discourage critters from thinking that they can next there over the winter months, and just to help in...

    Where is the temperature sensor?

Does it REALLY matter? What matters to me is how hot or cold I feel while on the Spyder. When its 90 degrees out, and I am sitting at a stop light, I'm roasting and it doesn't matter to me what the temperature reading on the screen is telling me. Frankly it would not matter to me if this feature...

Where do you store your Cell phone??

I use the center mount from Motorcycle Dave as well. Keeps the phone secure and I can still keep it plugged in to stay fully charged. I don't have Car Play on my 2021 RT, and found the BRP system to be fairly useless, so I have a data blocker on the cable so that only the charging is taking...

Jury is still out on my new Airhawk - how hard is it to find the sweet spot?

FWIW, I had one and never could find the right amount of air to be comfortable. Too little air and I felt I was just sitting on a sheet of plastic, too much air and I felt like I would fall off the pillow. I ended up giving the Airhawk to a friend and switched to the BeadRider seat covers. I was...
