• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Anyone experimented with Windshield extensions?

I'm with Dave on this one (and a bunch of other things as well). I have the RT limited, so the windshield is adjustable, but I remember adding a Laminar Lip to my ST1100, and it worked wonders I could still see over the shield and the wind was pushed over my head. Except for a bad knee, I...

Does the fix for mirror vibration work on a 2022 Spyder RTL ?

I'm spitballing here so I could be WAY off base: You're saying only the left mirror is shaking. I'm thinking if there were tire or suspension issues, both mirrors would still shake. Lamonster's kit mounts the mirrors solidly to the mirror mount. The mirror mount is in turn, mounted to the...

Electric Windshield adjustment bar broke. Any suggestions?

I only have a "seat of the pants" observation. On both my 2010 and 2014 RT's, when I hit a bump or pothole, I could see the windshield shake in a way that it appeared to rotate around that center arm. This of course, stressed it until it eventually broke. You could also rotate the windshield...

Powering a GPS from the front glove compartment USB

Yes, I agree totally. Cutting the data wires in the USB cable is a very clever solution (I'm assuming you cut the Garmin cable, and not the bike cable). but it's a bit extreme. I also use a data blocker on the USB, and you can power anything from the USB port. I've got a double USB to power our...

Heated Gear - need advice/video/detailed instructions on where/how to wire?

Not sure about the exact routing for an F3. I can tell you the technique I used. Open up the battery compartment in the front trunk. I had to remove the battery in order to gain access to the clear space behind the battery. You may need to remove some of the left side body panels. I ran the...

What are you paying for insurance? Who are you insured with?

I'm using Progressive. My annual premium is $468. That's for all 12 months. Some companies sell a 6 month policy which can save money, but I like the freedom of going out for a ride during a warm winter day. I know, warm is relative, but sometimes it can hit 40°F in Jan and Feb.

Heated Gear - need advice/video/detailed instructions on where/how to wire?

Precisely and exactly correct. I've done the same, so I now have four (4) direct connections to the battery. 1) The Spyder 2) Driver heated gear: fused connection to a barrel connector. 3) SWMBO heated gear: fused connection to a barrel connector. 4) Battery Tender: fused connection to an SAE...

Can a Garmin Zumo & a cell phone be mounted together??

I'm not sure I understand your question. I'm interpreting your first statement as asking if you can mount a Zumo and Cell Phone in parallel, both at the same time. Yes you can, but of course, you'd need a second mount for your cell phone. You can mount it on the handlebar, similar to the cup...

Manual Trans Riders - does downshifting/engine braking hurt?

YES YES YES YES YES YES YES. If I wasn't clear, I heartily agree. Brakes are far cheaper than engine/transmission parts. Just my opinion, I could be wrong. If I am, I'm sure someone on this forum would be delighted to correct me.

Does a Stock 2015 RTS have a Sway Bar

All Spyders have a sway bar. Many have found improved handling by upgrading to a more heavy-duty bar, one of the best is supplied by BajaRon. Check out the links that connect the bar to the body. If they are plastic, chances are you have the OEM bar. If they are metal. you most likely have an...

RT vs RTL Features comparison - food for thought?

I bought the RT Limited. I've used all the bells and whistles. I should mention that I often ride two up. The tail trunk is essential for me. In fact, I've added the luggage rack to the tail trunk and use it on longer trips. The heated seats are great, especially this time of year. The...

Anyone else want a Higher Touring Gear?

When I had my 2010 RTS with the 998 VTwin, I had the 5 speed manual. Everyone wanted a 6th gear back then. Now, with the 1330 triple I have a 6th gear, and there's talk of a 7th gear. I think I understand what people want, but I'm not sure the 1330 has enough HP to sustain a 7th gear. Perhaps...

    Are 2022 RT's Speed limited?

I didn't know that the RT was limited to 108 mph by the ECU. I had mine up to about 108 for a very short time and thought it just ran out of HP, pushing that big barn door front end through the wind at that speed. Nevertheless, I'm not unhappy with cruising at 75 mph. To me, the Spyder is a...

Time to make a decision - will I regret upgrading to 2021 RT Ltd?

I had a 2010 RTS and a 2014 RTS. I upgraded to the 2020 RT Limited. I am very pleased. Very pleased indeed. May I make an unsolicited suggestion? Why are you looking at the Limited edition? You can get the RT standard edition without the trunk and save yourself some money.

Does the fix for mirror vibration work on a 2022 Spyder RTL ?

I thought BRP addressed the issue about midway through the 2021 build. I solved the problem on my 2020RTL with Lamonster's fix. https://www.lamonstergarage.com/lamonster-can-am-spyder-mirror-locks/

Does the fix for mirror vibration work on a 2022 Spyder RTL ?

You should be fine. BRP had a fix for the problem that modified the mirror mounts in 2020 and early 2021. The newer models should have the new design mounts from the factory. I hope you recover well and ride strong.

I don't like my driver's backrest - any better options?

The BRP backrest has two height positions. Is the backrest flush against the seat, or can you see about 1" of the steel support? If you can see the steel support, you can lower the back rest. If it's flush against the seat, it's as low as it can go.

What size are the oil Drain Plugs?

Can you try vise-grip pliers to grab the head of the plug? Granted, you'll ruin the drain plug, so have the replacement in hand before you try this.

Garmin XT not charging & dim - What am I STILL doing wrong?

For some strange reason, the switched power connection on the 2020 Spyders has the connections reversed. Just like Scotty in Star Trek, the answer is to reverse the polarity. I know, it's not intuitive, but you need to connect the red wire on the Garmin harness to the Black wire on the Spyder...

    Will a Seat from a 2019 RT go on a 2011 RT?

Yes it will fit. The only difference is the 2019 will have a built-in mount for the stock driver's backrest, should you choose to install one. The 2011 seat requires you to cut into the seat to mount a backrest.
