• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Great Blog on BRP about one of our members

Dean, I spent most of my working life in the Canadian merchant marine and I've always known Newfies to be tough, hardy and cheerful. Sure seems that you fit that mould. Congrats, Bro!

    Ready for $4+ gas??

Of course, it's known that the Alberta tarsands contain almost as much oil as the Saudi reserves and Canadians are getting better at extracting the stuff. Yeah, I've heard the complaints about "dirty oil" from the touchy-feely crowd, but at the rate the big consuming countries use oil, the...

    Intro with question

Baphomet, the semi-auto contains a blipper that automatically controls rpm when shifting. You should be able to leave the throttle where it is. I have found the shifting is smoother when you quickly brush the paddle with the end of your glove thumb, don't try to "press the button."

    GoClaws?

Don't know, but if Eraser wants to head due west in Canada, he would be OK. I'm looking out my window at green grass and unlimited visibility right now. I expect coastal WA state is about the same.

    Question for Canadian riders

I ryde year round, but we don't get a lot of snow here ( coastal BC, near Vancouver). I have always ridden motorcycles in every month here as well, although I leave them at home when we do get snow. Never heard of a law against winter riding in British Columbia, but a person should use...

    How's this for promotion?

While I share some of Dudley's concerns about "suggestive" material, I did not find these photos offensive at all. Rather attractive, IMHO. But that's just my personal opinion, people differ. In the end, this is Lamont's site and it"s up to him to say what goes and what does not.

    Relay Problem

I've found that the added foam is only effective for so long before it takes a "set", allowing the relays to loosen. It then must be replaced.

    2008 Spyder SM5 Question

Yes, it was for the SE5, but some SM5 owners did the change up, too. The idea being that the mod is not expensive and that RFI transmission surges don't do any electronics any good.

Getting Ready to Buy First Spyder

As it happens, I am also 5'8 and my ryde is a GS/RS-SE5 semi-auto. I do mostly sporty rides of shorter duration, with some longer distance as well. The 1" BRP riser took away the previous wrist pain for me and works well for sport ryding, but if touring is your thing you may want to go with a 3...

Impressive riding! But do you perchance have a video of somebody doing it on a Goldwing TRIKE?

    GWRRA and Spyders

So the Goldwing guys are going to teach us how to ryde? Well, er, um, that's nice, (I guess?). Seriously though, it is gratifying that they recognise the stability of our machines and I'm sure their trike training contains valuable insights that all three wheelers could make use of.

    Battery removal suggests a mod.

Yep, the only reason I split the rear hole was to deal with my Ind 7 rack and keep it's long center screw in place. Makes pan removal quicker. Alignment between holes wasn't an issue.

    Battery removal suggests a mod.

First time I saw them was many years ago in the RCAF Reserve. Used a flatblade to open the little flapdoor to connect the APU on those old Twin Beech Expeditors we used as trainers. Thought Dzus were a good idea then, still do.

    Battery removal suggests a mod.

Roger, when you get to the splashpan, you will find that the plastic is a bit thicker. You will have to compress the female (nut) part a bit so that the male part will reach. I used a pair of vice grips to do this. Not hard, but it takes a bit of patience. I used the D-ring type of dzus here so...

    I am seriously

The RT is so not for me. When I trade my GS up, it will be for an RS. I can understand the RT's appeal to touring folks, however.

    Car tires on a motorcycle

OK, motorcycles should have motorcycle tires. I'll buy that. But I'd be more interested in your views about car tires on Spyders, Irish.

    Spydergirs's West Coast Gathering

I hope to attend and ryde south along the coast. It's a bit early to firm up plans yet, but ryding together seems like a good idea.
