• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Greasing tip

Yes, that's what I did. Do it gradually, using a cup of water to cool the adapter by immersion as you go. Check it for fit on the nipple frequently, as you don't want to remove more material than necessary. Hope this helps. BTW, the fitting can be a bit difficult to get off the nipple and you...

    Greasing tip

If you go with the 90 nipples, do not over-tighten them trying to get them to aim in the right direction. I did that, broke one off, and ended up taking it out with an easy-out, which wasn't fun. Having tried both, I personally opt for the altered gun fitting, but others may differ.

    Greasing tip

To ease greasing the Spyder front end, I followed the advice of Spongebob and purchased a LIN 5883 90 degree grease gun hose end from Lincoln Lubrication. It worked like magic on most of the nipples, but not on the upper front ones, so I ground a bit of metal off the adapter to make it fit...

    Interesting/Funny signs on the road

On a road through a farming area, I was following one of those big green machines that throw manure through the air onto farmers fields. I could see that someone had written something in the dust on the back of the machine. When i got close enough, I made out " S--T Happens!"

    RT vs RS

I don't think anyone is suggesting that there is a "wrong" choice here, Scotty, but it is interesting to see why some prefer one ryde and some the other.

    RT vs RS

I prefer the GS/RS because tight handling is far more important to me than comfort. Even so, I have made a few mods in the touring direction (bags, shield, highway pegs, 1 inch riser) so that I can ride all day when I want to, without undue discomfort. My favorite mods were swaybar, shocks and...

Which mirror extensions should I get?

Spyderduck, if you are set against cutting the shield, then your choice is made, Kewlmetal. They don't look as good as the up and outs, and the visibility is not as good, but they fit your ryde and are a big improvement over stock. Plus, they are inexpensive and easier to install.

    Se5 oil change help

To avoid the mess on the fins: with the plug out of the drained reservoir, place a pan under the res. Slack the HCM filter cover screws a few turns while holding the cover in. Now, quickly pull back on the filter cover enough to momentarily unseat the O ring and then press the cover back again...

    Lesson learned, beware!

Spyd3r, since you have removed your fender anyway, a simple home fabricated bracket will hold your tag well clear of the tire. Lots of examples of people having done this on this site. My bracket is made of flatbar, the plate has illumination and I have tested that the tire does not contact even...

    Lost SpyderLover Checkin In

Been hard times for a lot of folks. Congrats on the job find and good luck with it!

Chasing some sport bikes down Mt Lemon.

Might have been the camera angle, but it looked like you crossed the centerline a few times. Not really my comfort zone. FWIW, I don't think you're likely to catch a skilled rider on a real sports bike, even if you were to ryde a properly suspended RS, but as you say, you were "trying", and...

    I can't decide.....What do you think??

I would lose the white on the fenders, I think. Bit too much, gets me thinking of candy canes and barber poles!

I can't be the only one who feels this way....

I think a lot of folks waste a lot of money on farkles trying to turn an RS into a " poor man's RT". Admittedly, this was necessary in '08 and '09, before RTs existed, but what makes sense these days is to be very sure if you prefer a sporty ryde or a tourer before you make the initial purchase...

I plan on keeping my 2008 Spyde for a long time

I feel almost the same way, except I wont go back to 2 wheels. If a sporty reverse trike from another manufacturer comes along, I'll look it over, too.

Spyder Brakes. Did anyone try to change HB brake calipers or pads to anything else?

Absolutely nothing wrong with the brakes on my semi-auto. Hit them hard enough and and it will lift you off the seat and into the windshield! As Scotty suggests, check the condition of the pads. Make sure all the rest of the braking system is in good order, too.

    Highway pegs..pics please?

I made it up from a piece of 1/8 x 1 x 5 1/2 inch flatbar, and used the existing holes as a drilling template. Fastened with #8 strength bolts. Took about an hour to make and it sure saves the knees and quickens brake reaction time. And , yes, others have done the same thing on the RS parking...

    Knee replacement

Had both done on the same day in August of 2008. That's why I started riding Spyders instead of bikes and why I use the handle "Neez". Did the therapy, pool exercises, and lost some weight, good as new now. Could go back to bikes now, but I won't. Love that Spyder too much. Take care!

    Highway pegs..pics please?

I should have mentioned that my current setup works very well for me even on long trips, Venom. It won't work well for people with longer legs, I'd guess. And, yes, ISCI does make some very nice adjustable pegs.

You might be a Spyderlover if....

You like the same kind of roads that I do, Mike. With the Spyder, I find I worry less about slimy wet leaves on the roads than I did on 2 wheels, at this time of year. Great videos, thanx.

Broken Rear Fender is NOT covered by BEST protection plan

Here's my solution to the fender problem, the reflector problem and the plate illumination problem. The first photo shows brakes off and the second shows brakes on. I hung the plate from the topcase bracket using flatbar covered with rubber hose to contain the wiring. Tag illumination is by...
