• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Any chart/pics to show where Oil change O rings need to go?

From the service manual: Location of three of the O-rings, and the other two small ones go on the drain plugs.

What's best for Cold weather winter storage? Fuel additive? Battery care? Rodents?

The way I've stored anything with a battery and fuel is to us a battery tender, fill the tank with fuel, and add Stabilizer. A full charged, flooded cell or agm battery won't freeze until around -75f. Some people inflate their tires to the pressure listed on the sidewall, and some go as far as...

Just returned from a Route 66 ride - Fantastic Trip!

Yes, that's Cadillac ranch, AbN, and visitors are allowed and encouraged to add to the paint. There's even a vendor there that sells paint. Awesome ride, mmeechan! Sounds like a dream trip. While in SF you did ride the "twisties" of Lombard Street, right??? ;) Did you cross the Golden Gate...

Contemplating buying a Spyder - any reliability, power, and buyer's remorse issues?

Yeah, the CFO in my house only allows one bike at a time too. :lecturef_smilie: Predicting buyer's remorse for someone else is almost impossible, because you would be going from one type of handlebar equipped machine you straddle, to a completely different machine who's only similarities is a...

    BajaRon Motorcycle Gear Temporary 'Closure'?

Ron, Glad you are ok. Even though on some level we all have some understanding of what nature can do, unless you've actually experienced something like this, you really can't grasp just how powerful these events can be. We experienced a direct hit of a hurricane in the early 80s while on...

Curious for comments on Twisted Sisters ride in Texas?

Don't know when you plan on going, but we visited Fredricksburg in April for the eclipse, and the spring blooms were amazing! We went for a drive (didn't have the bike), and the fields covered in Bluebells were stunning, and the fragrance - wow. While we'd read about the Bluebells, what we...

Contemplating buying a Spyder - any reliability, power, and buyer's remorse issues?

Good to see you can do a test ride. Beware though, they are very different machines, and can feel unsettling the first time you ride one after many years on two wheels. You body is going to get inputs that it isn't used to, which can make the Spyder feel "wrong." On the first corner of my test...

So, how fast can a spyder go and safely make a sharp right turn at an intersection?

I'm still a fairly new Spyder rider and Peter's explanation is spot on. I've entered corners a little too hot and found that by doing as Peter described, my RTL corners very well and feels well planted. If I feel any tendency to drift wider, I pull a little harder on the inside bar and the...

Had to wear Gloves for Can Am riding course - Do you wear gloves? Why? Or why not?

Always. At one time I rode without gloves and a helmet. Even rode in shorts and a tank top. Those days are long gone. Feels weird not wearing gloves.

Where do you store your Cell phone??

In my pocket, or handlebar mount, plugged into power. I don't do calls while riding, so it's only connected to power when on the bars.

Anyone else have a Spiderweb on the front of their RT?

Not unusual for a spider to rebuild its web daily/nightly. Some just do repairs, others completely rebuild the web. If you want an idea of where your little web builder might be, one common spider trait is to sit at the end of one of the web threads, where it can keep one "foot" touching a web...

What do you think of the 'New for 2025 - Spyder Canyon'?

Yep, we got 'em. Used a couple for years at work for transporting our commercial, front deck, riding mowers from site to site. Sometimes it was a fun challenge to reach the point where the deck would start to tilt, then try to hold it there, balancing it halfway. That's one way to add a little...

Tell Me Something Good About Your Spyder Ownership Experience

Got my Spyder RTL after over 50 years of riding assorted bikes from a Honda 50, to a Goldwing, and a Harley Ultra. I also drove a sports car that I enjoyed every time I got behind the wheel. The RT is comfortable and protects me like the Goldwing and Ultra, it's fun in the corners like my...

What do you carry for Travel Snacks?

Pretty much variations on what others have listed with a couple additions. Sometimes I'll pick up some of the pre-packaged apple slices, and something that works surprisingly well, albeit they can be a little messy depending on how it's packed, is a good 'ol PBJ. My wife started making them for...

Mystery Tools/parts found in new to me 2020 RTL - any ideas?

The mystery of the 17mm flat wrench with the hole drilled in the end has been solved! By ME, thanks to a recent For Sale ad on these pages. To back up, as you can see in the attached photo, this wrench fits into a small plastic sleeve in the small storage compartment below the instrument...

Clunks shifting into Reverse fm Neutral on S2S - I don't like it!

Fairly new Spyder rider here, and yes, the clunk is unnerving, and I came from riding Harleys, which are known for klunking when going into gear. I used to joke that inside the motor, Harley had a patented, spring loaded brass hammer that smacked the inside of the engine case when shifting from...

What do you think of the 'New for 2025 - Spyder Canyon'?

My wife usually knows if she even hints it might be ok for me to get a new toy, I become like one of those cartoon characters where my legs become a circular blurr, and with arms pumping, I vanish leaving behind a swirl of dust and debris to the sound effect PEW!, on my way to make the purchase...

What Hobbies do you have other than the Spyder?

While I've been a motorcycle rider since I was 15, my other life long hobby predates that. As a kid, I always liked science, and growing up during the Moon race lit the amateur astronomer fire in me. Along with a Spyder in my garage, I also have a telescope in the backyard. While great roads and...

Is it possible to do an Oil Change without a lift?

A trick I used many years ago was to drive one side up onto a curb to get enough clearance to drain the oil while laying in the gutter. Changing oil at the side of the street wasn't particulary popular with the neighbors, but I was in my teens, so proper neighborhood etiquette wasn't one of my...

2013 STS - Is the Signal Switch easily replaced?

Entire cluster needs to be replaced. However, you may be able to open the switch area up and see if there's a way to clean the contacts either with some alcohol and a Q-tip, compressed air, or contact cleaner. Look for pinched wires, and be careful, because the switch could contain jumping parts...
