• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What is your opinion on the plastic oil pump gears?

For the record, nylon is a type of plastic.

F3T rear shock needed - will an RT Shock fit?

I have a 2018 F3-T. It is stock with the manually adjusted air bag. I'm also a part swapper. Several things I understand about an RT (I have never owned one and only test drove a couple of them). They weigh about 100 to 125 pounds more than an F3-T. They, too, have an air bag for load...

    A bit of humor

The Truth! I was the only mechanic in a MC shop when I was 18 - 21 years old. Based on my age, and habits, I wasn't keen on housekeeping. One day while hunting for a 12mm wrench, which I just had in my hand, I stuck both hands in my back pockets while scanning the shop. Low and behold, the 12mm...

BrpGo cable connection - would a wireless CarPlay adapter work? Anyone tried it?

According to the BRP website literature, the 2022 F3-S Special Series had BRP Connect capability, but not the F3-S model. BRP Connect had so many idiosyncrasies that most users never got any benefit of it. (I tried to get it to work for the first couple of years of owning a 2018 F3-Limited: it...

Anyone know if the OEM Swaybars on F3's are stiffer than RT's?

First, Ron, your empirical testing is better than any textbook study. Many have tried your torsion/anti-sway bar and many prefer them to the OEM torsion bars. To clarify, though, the steel type doen't affect the spring rate. That's an inherent property of the steel listed as E, or Young's...

Anything good to say about the Blue Ridge windshield?

Like Yabbadabbadoo stated, the Blue Ridge with X-Creen topper. I'm 5'10". Yes, the stock Blue Ridge dumps air in my faceshield height: I don't mind for riding in heat. For road trips of 2 - 5,000 miles, I've added an X-Creen "touring" windscreen extension. I've ridden in heat (Death Valley)...

2025 Planning 11th Memorial Trip to Central Texas (in memory of my wife)

Look up the YO Ranch (south of Fredericksburg, NW of Kerrville). Any of the roads that follow the forks of the Guadeloupe River. The wild flower bloom will likely be over by then, but if it is a later spring for us, and the area has had rain to alleviate some of the current drought, consider the...

    Need a Madstad "T" Nut

Those are either customized standard components or custom fabricated from scratch. The flat sides were cut after the nut was threaded. (A tap would have pushed steel out at the thin wall-section.) As such, you won't have luck finding a direct fit at the box stores. Alternatively, can you use a...

Anyone done a Cat Delete leaving stock muffler on?

The OEM secondary muffler on an F3-T or L is a glass packed, double wall unit. It has two internal perforated tubes that dissipate exhaust into the glass pack material. I used the cat delete pipe, with no baffle, into a stock muffler. It is louder such that one can hear the exhaust note over the...

F3 OEM Signature Light died - can I use its wiring for a/mkt replacement?

A relay delays energizing the circuit until after the engine is running. This conserves battery capacity to fire up the critical electronics and start the engine. I also use relays to isolate high current loads of my aftermarket stuff. We have Lamonster Garage and TricLED front lighting on our...

Anyone know if the OEM Swaybars on F3's are stiffer than RT's?

Several disqualifiers: I ride solo on an F3-S and an F3-T. My weight, in gear, is 170-175 lbs. Torsion (anti-sway) bar performance is based on the diameter of the bar and the lever-arm between the centerlines of the main bar to the linkage bolt. It doesn't make any difference as to the steel...

2025 Trip Planning - Maine Mostly

Like others have stated, Acadia N.P., Quody Head, Mt Washington (New Hampshire), and while the coast has its beauty, the interior also has beauty. We also rode Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick. Couldn't make the trip to Newfoundland and Labrador, as the ferries were still running...

Curious for comments on Twisted Sisters ride in Texas?

NW Arkansas host some great riding. The Twisted Sisters are more about marketing, kind of like some of the "named" rides in the eastern states. There are some nice sections, but pieced together with a lot of more boring riding. It is Texas Hill Country (not mountains), though, and offers, in my...

Check with Kenny Butler. I believe he's on the south side of the Orlando area. He should be a member of this forum, as well as FB Spyder Lovers.

Another Dealer Drops the Spyder Line

When the Ryker came out, I know of a small-town dealer that was forced to take over 100 Rykers for that current model year. If they wanted to keep their franchise, they didn't have a choice. That stated, Harley has done the same thing with their smaller dealers. I wrenched on BRP products back...

Is it possible to do an Oil Change without a lift?

That's the way I've done them since 2008. I use a flat catch pan. Although getting it higher would be easier for the drain plug installation, the oil splashes too much (I could change the catch pan). I use my creeper to clean the drain area and install the drain plugs.

Looking for a male connector to fit this? Need to charge GPS!

If connected directly to the battery, and in the correct polarity, the XT2 should charge. I had a situation with an XT where the two pins in the saddle were not connecting to the back side of the unit. Check to ensure the small, spring loaded contact are projecting out of their location. With...

    What GPS are you using?

If you never leave a city or get out in the country, a cell phone is fine. I don't understand why people feel a need to deride others' choices when their reality does not match the question.

If only the Japanese made a reverse trike...

That's the aging must-have-H-D crowd. I thoroughly enjoyed my Harley's over a 16 year period, and especially the competent dealer network. But the way the rigid and narrow rear axle treated the rider and passenger, it was a very easy decision to move to the ride and precision of the Spyder.

    What GPS are you using?

Garmin Zumo XT I've used Garmin GPS units since before (2005) cell phones had mapping software and any universal coverage. The GPS is weather-proof, cell phones not so much. If you want to have your phone on your handlebars, in the elements, then you go for it. We often ride where cell service...
