• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Buying our first Spyder in the Spring - what should I be looking for?

l liked the seating position on the F3 Limited. Felt more natural to me. You might try renting one for a day or 2, I used Twisted Road I think was the site to rent a BMW.

Wondering how to jack up Front tire to test for a leak? Any ideas/help?

I would recommend to break the lug nuts loose first. Then jack up and support the left front or which ever wheel has the suspect leak. I jack under the center, you may want to go a little more forward to "tilt" the front up to support it better. Mix some dish soap and water. Lay the tire flat...

No more motorcycle magazines for me...

Mine have also paired down. Roadrunner is the only one I still get (https://www.roadrunner.travel/) I like the shamrock tours of areas and they have some good tips etc. It's an independent family owned magazine and I like supporting small businesses.

Make sure to check your brake linkage when you are doing your maintenance!

My first trip up the NC about 70 miles from home, North of Jacksonville, a light for suspension came on. The bolt for the arm on the shock had fallen out. Good thing I had zip ties with me.

Open Trailers for towing Spyders - what's the best suspension type? Experience, opinions, or are we just over-thinking this?

If you tie the Spyder down as mentioned by the tires, much like a car dolly pulled behind motor homes the bike suspension will do the work. I had a torsion type enclosed trailer with a 1000 lb small race car stored in it. With weight being in it all the time the rubber torsion part of suspension...

When should you change your Spark Plugs?

Good to know. I hadn't thought about the double RPM being a higher wear on the plugs. I had 2 x 5.7l Hemi vehicles that I had to change plugs in at almost the same time. NGK is what I put back in. 16 plugs each, go ring that up at the cash register. One truck was a 2500, so I had room to work...

Need a measurement please for handlebars.

So I ordered a pair of the "short reach bars" (funny how they almost describe what you need backwards). So anywho, I installed the bars today. I had already installed the riser (spacer) to try to get the bars further back. Some rough measurements kind of showed the set back to be close to the...

How do I go about F3 top panel and cluster removal? Fitting Cruise Control to F3 Base...

Sad to think a company that makes aircraft, puts panels together this way. 🤔

Your Weather News @ December Edition 2025

73° or so today and sunny. We went for a ride this am to get coffee and a donut, about 30-40 miles one way. Then return down the A1A beach side. Nice ride. Trying to think what we might do New Years Day. Looking in the 60S

2017 F3-L - How difficult is it to replace the front shocks?

When you take the old shock off you probably need to take a couple measurements. I dont know about the 2017, but my 19 the shocks are like the coil overs that were on my race car. So over all length from "shock eye to shock eye" would be good to know, gives you overall length. Maybe distance...

Need a measurement please for handlebars.

Thanks for directing attention to the tape measure one. I didn't blow it up to see the tape in it. Looks to be about 7.5" or so from the triple tree to the upper bends, yes? Its been a while since I had mine off to put the riser block on, but I think there was a locator pin that limited how much...

Need a measurement please for handlebars.

I have checked several threads about the bars. So far no where I have seen any kind of measurement to indicate what "length" bars I have or what "short reach" bars measure. All I ever find is "2-3 inches further back" Without some sort of reference as to where the beginning is I have no idea...

Need a measurement please for handlebars.

I am looking into ideas to reduce some shoulder and neck pains I get when riding. I installed a riser to get bars back some, but I don't feel its enough. I saw a few threads of "short reach" bars but no actual comparison to know if by chance the previous owner already installed them. I would...

What has been your experience with Tire Plug Kits?

Agreed the mushroom type depending on kit, the hole can be large. Like most things there are different types of those mushroom ones. When I was teaching auto tech a few years back I think we found that those type were the only ones tire manufactures "recommend". Personally I have had good...

Can Am Spyders Resale value isn't great...

Well not exactly. We spent about 20 days in Western and North West North Carolina mountain's riding and site seeing. The six turns from home to work don't count; LOL

Can Am Spyders Resale value isn't great...

Well, I have to say it's on me and my style. I don't remember feeling this way last year, but it could be now that I have more time on it, I ride differently (less timid maybe) and I did not enjoy myself. I ride it back and forth to work often with no issues, just me in the mountains. LOL, I...

Can Am Spyders Resale value isn't great...

I have been looking pretty hard for the last month or so. My last trip to NC, I really didn't enjoy. The handling issues I felt I had made me uncomfortable riding. So I'm looking to a R1200RT BMW. I don't want another big 800+ LB V Twin. But there are none for sale by dealers around here.

Anyone installed a Sirius XM radio receiver on their RT? Any hints?

I have used one of the portable units, I think Onyx is the name. Mine is mounted on a bracket from the windshield and I have a short antenna mounted to a small L bracket on back of the radio. It's connected with Aux cable to the bike. I have had this on no less than 3 bikes, probably as many...

I guess I'm just not a Twisties guy!

I liked the twisty on my 2 wheels. Not a carver kind of ride just enjoy the ride. So we rode home today on some twisty from Southern NC to Fla. Mostly the old school highways. I don't remember this thing acting like a pig in mud last year with the same gear and tires. But some corners, it pushed...
