• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Anybody see a measurable change in fuel mileage with larger diameter rear tire?

The Generals that I put on the rear are 121 bucks. What does the Kenda rear tire cost? The General Altimax RT45 215/60R15 is a much better tire. Spyder handles better and it will last 3 or 4 times longer.

Anybody see a measurable change in fuel mileage with larger diameter rear tire?

It will correct your speedo about 1 MPH, noticeable effect of fuel mileage is not going to happen.

If the 2012 is the same as my in-laws 2014, then these work. Digital volt gauge: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00T2NTWUA/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1 USB https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077F4ZGTZ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 PUG to mount the...

Has anyone ever mounted the transponder part of a key next to the ignition to bypass DESS?

Does it allow one to push the key in and turn to open the seat and frunk?

Has anyone ever mounted the transponder part of a key next to the ignition to bypass DESS?

It only takes one key to run it and one as a spare, as the spare is needed to get a new key made if you lose the main one. My spare is hidden in a locked compartment, I have a key cut that is always on my key ring in my pocket that unlocks the compartments.

    Random thought for the day

Anyone else notice the tread pattern on a two wheel motorcycle front tire is mounted the opposite to that of the Spyder and car tires?

Any DIY cup holder ideas out there?

Cheap one from Walmart or Amazon. Heat and open up mount. All thread shaped around the handle bar. Cover all thread with heat shrink tubing. Holds plastic water bottle or mid size drink cup.

What is the 'proper' method to secure a Spyder on or in a trailer for transport?

I might have been the first to do this back in 2020. They are also available here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08P15BHSR?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_5

Probably a stupid idea - thinking I might go from a 2018 F3 Ltd to an RTL S2S - am I crazy and should just keep what I have?

Yes, one has to be very careful cleaning, as the surface can easily be damaged.

What is the 'proper' method to secure a Spyder on or in a trailer for transport?

For long trips (like 1500 miles Az to Wa) I use both belt and suspenders! Let it ride on both it's own suspension and the trailer's suspension. The big worry is that at a sudden stop (AKA a head on event), it does not become a missile aimed at the tow vehicle. - -

What did you do to your Spyder today?

My nephew's AI computer most likely cost him 10 times the cost of a Spyder. He is pretty high up in his company, and doing a lot of cutting edge stuff. They hired him 30+ years ago to get a program he had written to catalog OBD code changes.

Prepping for the ultimate riding season - have I missed anything?

South of Fort Bagg is Hwy 20 back to the 101, to make loop. Use a micro fiber cloth on the straps going through the wheels.

Prepping for the ultimate riding season - have I missed anything?

I spent my last year and a half in the USCG at Point Arena Loran A Station, Summer of 1967 to Jan 1969. So I have driven Hwy 1 a lot. In 2024 on my relocation trip of my first Spyder from Az to Wa, I came up Hwy 1 North of San Francisco. I had forgotten how twisty it was when you leave the coast...

What did you do to your Spyder today?

In Thailand back in the day, a ride in a bahtbus was one baht. Baht = 5 cents back in 1966. In Bangkok you could grab a driver and ask to go to the US military exchange and by a carton of cigarettes for a $1.20. Have the driver watch you put it under your seat, and you were golden for the whole...

2014 Spyder RT Ltd missing at just above an idle - any recommendations, other than spark plugs?

I am a year behind you and love to go vroom vroom on freeway on ramps with my Spyders, and power out of corners in a lower gear. My old body likes the feel of a power surge. My twin turbo F150 is driven the same way. I have peripheral neuropathy in both feet (thanks to Agent Orange in SE Asia...

Prepping for the ultimate riding season - have I missed anything?

Does it back in on it's own, or do you winch it in. E-track and traps over the tires is the best way to secure it to a trailer. I had the yellow Erickson wheel chocks front and back of the front tires, and it would spin the rear wheel trying to back out of the chocks. So I switched that to a...
