• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

10.25 Screen Rebooting during ride; the Screen data is not updating; and Statistics data us incorrect - any Suggestions?

And fully charge it before you install it. You are looking for 350 CCA (cold cranking amps) minimum and at least AGM technology. I run the Yuasa battery.

10.25 Screen Rebooting during ride; the Screen data is not updating; and Statistics data us incorrect - any Suggestions?

The electrical noise and interference from a Spyder is generally more than a car, because in a car, a lot of the electrics and potential interference sources are in front of the firewall. Hence making sure the USB cable is of the highest quality helps. I convert from USB A to USB C in the glove...

Catastrophic Damage at 2026 D3WR - any suggestions on transporters to ship an F3 home to NC?

Oh that I know the drill. I also know that getting things done on the cheap by people with neither the skills, the experience, nor the equipment rarely turns out well. I'm sure you see the result of a lot of that coming through your shop, after the damage is done. People don't budget properly...

How I Spent My Summer Vacation

Vietnam was before I emigrated here, it was just something on the TV news for a minute or two every couple of weeks. Until I came to the US I really didn't know much about it. I had no idea what it was really about. From what I have subsequently learned as an American, I especially thank you...

Catastrophic Damage at 2026 D3WR - any suggestions on transporters to ship an F3 home to NC?

This is true. However, the young tech who works at my dealer I taught on and off through his high school years. He greets me with my formal title and I have to trust that he shows me in return the respect that I showed him then. So far, I've not had any complaints and they've been very fair to...

Wondering about replacing my '21 Spyder with a '26 (or '27) - any thoughts on the newer Spyders being different or better enough to justify the spend?

You're right, I like the reverse selection and the cruise control cancelling method by reversing the throttle too. I have the satin/matte finish white S2S. I agree the gloss finishes are hardier. However, the satin/matte finish is not either as matte or as delicate as I first feared. But, white...

Here's the Current drawn by my iPhone when using Apple Maps and Apple Music - does anybody else use this device to measure their current draw?

There has been quite a lot of discussion about current draw from iPhones whilst running Apple Maps and Apple Music. So I thought I would experiment a little. I bought a USB Voltage/Current/Power meter from Amazon for $13: USB C Tester Power Meter, 4-30V 0-12A Type-C PD Tester Digital...

Wondering about replacing my '21 Spyder with a '26 (or '27) - any thoughts on the newer Spyders being different or better enough to justify the spend?

I did exactly that. I traded my 2021 RT LTD for a new 2026 Sea to Sky. The seat, tires, display console, CarPlay addition, and lots of other small factors (like being able to do your own firmware updates) made all the difference to me. My wife likes the seat 10x better. Was it worth the money...

10.25 Screen Rebooting during ride; the Screen data is not updating; and Statistics data us incorrect - any Suggestions?

You can update some of the firmware yourself. When you're at your home, couple your bike to your home WiFi, it will need the 2.4GHz connection. Also, put your bike on your battery tender too, in order to ensure that the voltage doesn't drop too low in the middle of the update. Then check the...

Catastrophic Damage at 2026 D3WR - any suggestions on transporters to ship an F3 home to NC?

Look up the "Kelly Blue Book for motorcycles" value for trade. Considering the extent of the repair and the work required to get it back into saleable state, it might not be worth much. The KBB trade in value for a 2015 F3 is about $8,000. In order to cover their labor costs, the potential...

Catastrophic Damage at 2026 D3WR - any suggestions on transporters to ship an F3 home to NC?

The $3,000 quote for labor might seem a lot, but that’s about 20 hours. That’s quite reasonable for the job I think, if $150 p/h labor rate is considered reasonable, but that’s the going rate in my neck of the woods. I’m sure BRP pays the dealer half of that for warranty work as they no doubt...

Your Weather News @ July 2026 Edition

Our winters get warmer, our summers get hotter, every season drier than the previous drought season, and now everything is catching fire. Plus there’s the ruddy earthquakes and a drying up Great Salt Lake that now reveals the toxic dust to blow across the valley as we’ve run out of water to...

What kind of navigation do you use on your Canyon, especially when you are out of cell phone service.

For some reason, non of the cellphone apps are that intuitive. Moving between Apple Maps and Google Maps is difficult as neither is that intuitive when setting up multiple stop trips. Nothing to my mind beats a Garmin device for the UI. I don’t know how much Garmin makes on its hardware, but...

What did you do to/with your Spyder today?

Should be stock on the RT LTD and Sea to Sky.

Catastrophic Damage at 2026 D3WR - any suggestions on transporters to ship an F3 home to NC?

I strongly suggest enclosed transport. If they load it backwards they might pull the screen off. It might end up on more than one vehicle and it might set off the right way around but who knows by the time it gets to you. Whoever you use, be sure to tell them how to get the electric parking...

Your Weather News @ July 2026 Edition

I wonder if rabbit fur under clothing might help? It's not like you don't have an abundant supply. I've given up riding in sub arctic temperatures. I'm too old and the roads get covered in ice when it gets down to those numbers, especially on bridges. Being in a mountain valley we get...

Today I tried navigation via BRP Go (2024+)...

So from the instruction sheet I assume the 1.44 Amps is the negotiated power available as reported by the USB host, i.e. the Spyder's USB A connector? Or is it the actual instantaneous current draw, i.e. does that value move up and down over time? The 57 mAh is the current draw from whatever...

Ikon Front Shocks - Who Uses 'Em & What Do You Think?

Back in the day they were Koni products before Koni sold their entire motorcycle shock absorber business to their Australian distributor and they became Ikon (see what they did there), every first mod to Japanese and sometimes European bikes in the UK was to fit Koni Dial-A-Ride shocks. Koni...

Interesting oil test report. What say you?

One way to find which class of base stock a “full” synthetic oil is based upon, highly refined dinosaur juice or truly synthetic oil is to get the safety sheet for the oil in question. Oil companies are required to supply that upon demand I was curious about the XPS branded BRP new “fully”...
