• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

How do you determine your head Shape when buying a helmet?

+1 on a white helmet. Your helmet is the most visible part of your gear. Use it to help people see you. It drives me crazy to see so many new riders buying a black helmet as their first. Oval, intermediate-oval, etc classifications can only get you in the ballpark. Even within a brand, there...

How many States require a Motorcycle Endorsement for Spyders?

In Oregon, an endorsement is required and there are two paths available. - The normal two-wheel motorcycle endorsement allows you to ride two or three wheels. - Alternately, you can take just the written (computer) motorcycle test at the DMV (no on-bike skills test required) and receive a...

For those that are inclined - Grand Tours

Grand Tours are indeed a fun way to get to places you might not otherwise go (or even know about). Since 2007, I've been setting destinations and planning routes using the Grand Tour from the Rose City Motorcycle Club here in Portland, OR. Instead of the scavenger hunt style of the GLMC, ours...

My 2024 RT has developed a Vibration at 2700 rpm - anyone else? Any ideas of cause? Fixes?

What type of a vibration are you experiencing? Where are you feeling/seeing it? Are you thinking it is engine related or tire/suspension related?

Planning a Pacific Coast Highway trip - looking for suggestions

As you leave Missoula (which I think is #3 on your map), please consider heading south to Lolo and then taking Lolo Pass (hwy 12). It is regularly listed as one of the best motorcycle roads in the country (with good reason) and it would be a shame to miss it. And, per Google maps, it adds only...

What is the orange arrow above the gear indicator after 2024 instrument software upgrade?

I've only ridden once since I did the upgrade (and it was a short ride). I can't take mine out for a test today, but I'm pretty sure that is new with the latest upgrade - even when in Normal mode (I don't use Eco mode). But yes, it does appear to be a shift indicator like the one that shows up...

Has anyone found a non-OEM 80 amp main fuse replacement?

I had to wait 6 months (from June to December) to get mine from the dealer. You may need to stay on your dealer to keep checking with BRP and open a case if it doesn't show up as expected. Else you'll get, three weeks, three weeks, three weeks, etc. Since I couldn't wait for the OEM...

What Communication devices do you use between rider/pillion & other riders in your group?

Never ride with a passenger so can't help you there. Have been touring annually with a friend since 2007 and we've always had Sena units, currently SRL-Mesh which mount inside our Shoei helmets (but never had a problem with externally mounted units with regards to water - and I've ridden in...

Planning a Pacific Coast Highway trip - looking for suggestions

Assuming the 2 week time frame is from MN to MN, correct? I tend to plan by hours based on Google Maps or MyRouteApp rather than miles. A group I ride with aims for 6 hours of riding time per day; riding solo I'm good with 7-8. Planning by hours is especially helpful on a trip like this since...

Bummed out waiting for a part

I'll add my story. Self inflicted problem back on June 6 when I managed to blow the 80 amp fuse between the alternator and battery. Dealer didn't have one in stock so they ordered one. ETA was three weeks. I found an acceptable substitute at AutoZone and have been riding with that one. Checked...

    Retired this past Friday.

Retired in March. Glad to see I'm not the only one who isn't able to do all the things I'd like to do. Good news is that there is no pressure. I'll get to things eventually. How did I ever manage life in all those years I was working full time?

Review: Spyder Extras Flip Up Seat Support Bracket

Looks like a great solution to the problem. And wow, talk about an easy install! But I'm wondering, has BRP addressed the issue on the 2024 models? I've got 14,000+ miles on mine and a lot of seat lifts with no problems so far. If I was going to have a strut problem, should I have experienced...

New 10.25 screen update on Oct 7, 2024 - What new features did it add?

If BUDS2 was required, they should have told us that in the email we received this morning rather than giving us a link for how to do it ourselves. But, I realize that's me expecting BRP to do the logical thing and I should know better. :)

New 10.25 screen update on Oct 7, 2024 - What new features did it add?

Same email, same result. I'll keep waiting and watching hoping that someone is able to post that the update is actually available.

Anyone here like planning their own routes?

I think Tyre was the predecessor to MyRouteApp (MRA). From the tyre2navigate page, appears there was a parting of the ways of the people involved. For as long as I was using only a Garmin to navigate, I didn't find anything better for me to plan with than BaseCamp. It is its own thing and...

My Problem Free time with the RT is over!

"BRP did use Chinese made 300 CCA batteries in 22 &23 and maybe previously but are back to using the Yuasa YTX 24L (350cca) in late 23 and 24" My 2024 RTL came with the Chinese battery, not a Yuasa. I replaced it with a NOCO.

So, how fast can a spyder go and safely make a sharp right turn at an intersection?

One other thing I've learned to use on an RTL with big floorboards is a variation on Peter's recommendation to squeeze the tank with your legs. I move my inside foot towards the rear of the floorboard and lock my knee against the bike as I lift and shift my butt to get at least partially off the...

What do you carry for Travel Snacks?

Kirkland Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Protein Bar is my usual choice. The choco chips don't make too much of a mess even when it gets hot. But I have learned the bars get hard when cold so I try to remember to put them in a pocket that will give them some body heat. My alternate is the Kirkland...

DID Make My Mind up! - Big D's Mighty Red Baron has Arrived!

I've been on two wheels since 2006 (V-Strom 650). As I neared retirement, I started thinking about a new bike to celebrate. I've had a long-time admiration for GoldWings and took a friends for a ride last summer. Great bike. But I'd also been looking at Spyders, knowing their advantages for...
