• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

First time spyder owner, Got some issues/questions.

Ilion? We were near there just last month. Went to buy a lift in Blue Mountain Lake. Turned north in Utica, so we missed you. About your ride: most of your questions have already been addressed, I'll just offer my observations. Your first question was about noise from the belt. It tends...

Extra fuel idea - what do you think?

I keep seeing mentions of 2 and 3 pounds of fuel. No doubt the floorboards are capable of carrying that amount of weight, but let's face it, ... that's less than half a gallon of fuel. Is all of this planning and engineering really necessary to carry less than half a gallon? I have a small...

Does UHaul rent a trailer to tow a Spyder?

When we bought my wife's RT a couple of years ago, we rented a 6x12 open U-Haul. They have two versions of this trailer. One has a "loading ramp", but it's way too steep for a Spyder. Another negative is even more definitive, there are gussets at the back that narrow the actual opening to...

Need Additional stopping power for when towing? Ideas?

Sit down, class, school is now in session. The following are clickable links. Tekonsha Prodigy RF Autowbrake There might be more, but those two popped up rather quickly. I have no personal experience with either one, but I have talked to a couple users that have the Tekonsha...

Need Additional stopping power for when towing? Ideas?

The smallest trailer brakes I have seen were 7". Not sure if they would work on your 9" wheels. If they do, it would be tight. If you could upgrade to 10" or 12" wheels, it would be great. Before you look into brakes for the trailer, be aware that the axle on the trailer needs to be equipped...

Need to Tow my 2018 RT - any options? Does U-haul have a suitable trailer?

When we bought my wife's '17 RT (used), I rented a 6 x 12 U-Haul open trailer. Be aware that they have two versions. One has a short ramp/tailgate, the other has just a short tailgate. DO NOT use the one with the ramp. It has gussets at the back that brace the side walls that bring the width...

Almost finished our new Chuck wagon-Cargo trailer - just sharing my build.

I agree on the "very stiff" part. One caution, though, removing the small leaf can also remove a lot of the integrity. I would look into the possibility of installing a spacer about 1/4" thick between the leaves (only between the U-bolts). That would allow the longer spring to do most of the...

Thinking of buying a Spyder, but have a lot of Questions - any help please?

I saw a few mentions about the auto-shifting, and wanted to clarify something. The mentions were that you had to push the paddle to upshift, but the bike would automatically downshift. A bit yes AND no on that. If you are slowing to a stop, yes, the bike will quietly downshift as you slow...

Where to put Pa state inspection stickers?

I don't know what their requirements are for location of the sticker, but I have seen some rather 'creative' locations on motorcycles over the years. One of the better ones was a plate that was made to go under the left passenger floorboard. Flip the board up, it's visible. Put the board...

2020 RT Ltd - is this Air Bag Pressure right? Can I adjust?

A question for the masses, then one (or more) for K80. All: do the 20-and-up Spyders have a height adjustment like the earlier ones? On our '17 RT-S, you can select from "SOFT" to "HARD", although I think those labels are misleading. They should simply be "LOW" and "HIGH", as they determine...

The Truth about LED bulbs - Don't Buy LED Bulbs Before Watching This!

Although there might be something about brightness, the real issue is mentioned in that video from Headlight Revolution. The source of light (the LED emitters) might not be in the same place as the incandescent filament. That is going to put the source out of the focal point of the reflector...

    GWRRA Org. SHUTTING DOWN

When my wife and I joined about 20 years ago, I was on a Kawasaki, she was on a Suzuki, our older son was on a Yamaha. Had to join as Associate members because we did not have a Wing, but it was still a welcoming bunch of friendly people. It was about 5 years later that we got a Wing, but...

The Truth about LED bulbs - Don't Buy LED Bulbs Before Watching This!

About a year ago, I got new bulbs for my 'new' van and my wife's car. I got Morimoto 9005 2-stroke 3.0 for the DRL bulbs on the van and S-V.4 bulbs for all the rest. VERY impressed with them all. I probably would have gotten S-V.4s for all of them, but the Morimotos have a DRL function that...

Topping off your fuel tank - is it good practice??

Especially when we are on a longer ride, I will put the hose about 1" inside the tank. When I get a splash, and the pump stops, I will usually round up to the next dollar. Then I move the hose to MY bike and repeat the process. .

    Dilemma

I'm also in the camp of "it's not the tire that is the problem". I also put Vredesteins on my wife's '17 RTS, then installed my own mudflap after painting the fender. I have not bothered to measure the clearance, but we have never noticed any aromas coming from the rear. I was going to...

Fobo 2 - why not buy 2 sets to cover air bag plus spares?

I have not looked very closely at the two devices, but have to ask: how many devices are shown on the respective screens? I have a (possibly erroneous) conception that the Fobo 2 might display just two devices, while the model for a trike will show three, possibly even four. Just guessing. .

Anyone use a hitch pin adapter instead of ball coupler?

Mike, I'm seeing a new side of you. Until tonight, I have seen a very safety-conscious guy that used to investigate traffic accidents and is very much into tire safety. Now I learn that you have a PLASTIC trailer that you take on the highway??? :yikes: .

So, what do y'all consider "touring"?

I have seen it mentioned on some other forums: Four lanes are for making time. Two lanes are for making memories. I knew a guy that was SERIOUSLY into Iron Butt rides on his Goldwing. His basic traveling philosophy was that he only ate at places that had someone's name in the place's...

    How to tow a Ryker?

Sorry, but I would not even offer that suggestion to my worst enemy. I have towed a bike with a similar setup. DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMENDED. If you were to lift the front of the Ryker, there is no way for the rear to swivel behind you as you go around corners. If you were to lift the rear of...
