• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Considering a Spyder - Can I Ask You Some Questions?

Take the course anyway. You will learn/relearn. I did it, which included sidecar, and learned a few things. You’ll still have your MC endorsement.

Rear tire mileage - How are you people getting 10,000 + miles on Kenda tires?

New Kanine rear tire, not much if any difference. OEM rear 6,763. Kanine 7,404. OEM fronts 16,800 so far. Still 6/32 remain. I’ll go with the Vredesteins when I replace them.

Anyone in Northern Texas area installing Car Tires on Spyders?

Thanks. Houston isn't so far. I just don't like going there, but I have, and I may need to for tires.

Annoyingly, my '21 RTL will only cancel Cruise by touching the brake pedal or downshifting - are there any other ways?

Rolling the throttle on previous 2 wheel was very convenient. I wish my 2022 RT had that feature. I have adapted. Here I go complaining about the luxury of an electronic cruise. I rode many miles without cruise. Guess I need to appreciate what I have now.

Anyone in Northern Texas area installing Car Tires on Spyders?

Thank you Ron. I can take the fronts off, get new tires mounted, and I can reinstall. The rear is my main issue. I completely agree with the impact gun thong. They tend to over torque lugs nuts on automobiles also. Peter, thanks for the heads up. It sure sucks though. With all the vehicles and...

Anyone in Northern Texas area installing Car Tires on Spyders?

Is there any one in Northern Texas or Southern Oklahoma installing car tires on the rear? Not just mounting them on the rim, but removing & installing them on the Spyder (an RT)? I’m hoping to find an installer closer to North Dallas than Eastern Tennessee.

Sunday morning thinking out loud - on my Third Spyder, making the move from Two Wheels was a good choice for me!

After 300,000 miles in 15 years on 2 wheels, I am not sorry to have transitioned to 3.

Have any of you added an Aux Tank to a 2020+ RT?

Aux Tank Up Date: I just returned from a 2600 mile trip to Colorado and New Mexico. 106°F on the return. Everything worked fine until on the way home at the 106°F temps, when I guess I had a vapor lock in the Aux line. Only half of the aux tank made it to the main tank. By morning, all of the...

Have any of you added an Aux Tank to a 2020+ RT?

I did do what I call a "proto type" test. I filled both tanks as full as I could get them, then rode 250 miles as fast as the speed limit would allow, some 75mph. I visited friends, then returned the 250 miles after refilling the tanks. No problems. I will be adding a shut off valve so that I...

Rear tire mileage - How are you people getting 10,000 + miles on Kenda tires?

I have decided I’ll find a way to change to a car tire. I have no way to take the rear tire off. Probably could find a place to mount it. I wouldn’t be near as upset if the labor cost in replacing the rear tire wasn’t so high. The OEM on my 2wheel motorcycle, very heavily loaded, interstate...

Rear tire mileage - How are you people getting 10,000 + miles on Kenda tires?

How are you people getting 10,000 + miles on Kenda tires? My OEM gave me almost 7,000 mi and Kanine 7,000. They wear in the center. I have lowered the pressure to 24psi, now to 22-23. I do not hot rod. Almost all of my mileage is highway, solo, but loaded for touring. I want to go to a car...

Can the Spyder's battery be changed to lithium? Pro's & Con's?

Ed, I’m from the Stone Age. If the won’t start by just hitting the starter, I’m not buying. I did adjust quickly from kick starting to electric start though. Lol

Can the Spyder's battery be changed to lithium? Pro's & Con's?

I had terrible luck with lithium battery in my Honda VTX. It was the correct size. The issue was in 50°F temp, it took several tries to get the engine to spin fast enough to start. Acted like a bad battery. Worked fine at 70°F and above. Later, I learned that in colder temps, one must crank it...

Have any of you added an Aux Tank to a 2020+ RT?

I’ve seen several tail daggers on IBA riders motorcycles. One lost his because of not having a strong enough mount. It takes a lot of bouncing. Almost all are successful. One lady IBR finisher had hers mounted in the tail trunk of her Victory Cross Country with a transfer pump.

What did you do to your Spyder today?

GDoc, Thanks for asking my opinion. I’m not all that informed on them. From what I’ve read the Rotopax are a very good way to carry extra fuel. They are durable. Off roaders, 2 and 4 wheel, use them often. Two gallons each is about right, not too heavy to handle. Long ago, I experimented with a...

What did you do to your Spyder today?

Port Angeles, I liked it there the few times I visited. The winters were mild, as were the summers. My X wife's aunt and uncle lived there. He was a crusty ol' fart, but for some reason, he liked me. He was a fisherman. He knew where to catch the fish. They owned a camp ground that was adjacent...

Have any of you added an Aux Tank to a 2020+ RT?

Thanks again for all the positive info. I finally got my Aux tank mounted and plumbed. I’ll tweak it as time goes on. I made it more difficult than I needed to. I was overly concerned about the plumbing. I had more difficulty dealing with the mounting of the tank. You’ll all have heard of...
