• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Anything good to say about the Blue Ridge windshield?

The Blue Ridge is okay at lower speeds but at highway speeds it will buffet your head quite a bit. That is solved by adding a deflector like Xcreen on top of it.

Anyone here like planning their own routes?

I learned how to plan rides on Basecamp and found it more difficult than it needs to be. I subscribed to Rever Pro and love the Butler Maps feature which shows ratings of good, better and great motorcycle routes. It's very easy to create a route in Rever, save the gpx file and then uplink it...

    How Do You Ride?

Somehow the speed limits always feel too slow for natural speed capability of the road. Of course they're set that way for safety and I guess for public policy that makes sense. But the natural speed that "feels right" is always higher, at least for me it is. Remember when they set the...

    How Do You Ride?

I voted for "It depends on my mood". There are times when I want to go fast and make some time and times when I just want to cruise easily and relax. Put the bike on cruise control and just chill out. I also try not to let myself get boxed in with a bunch of other vehicles. So sometimes...

Jury is still out on my new Airhawk - how hard is it to find the sweet spot?

Another technique I've used for all day comfort with the Airhawk is to start the ride with it more fully inflated and then periodically release air as the day goes on. This changes the pressure points from being in the same place all the time. But the most comfortable is with very little air...

Do you remove your Airhawk seat pad when you leave your Spyder parked?

The only time I take my Airhawk off my seat is when I'm going to wash the bike or to ride without it for a while.

Tell Me Something Good About Your Spyder Ownership Experience

Besides all the fun of riding and wind therapy, having the Spyder has enhanced my social life greatly. I now have riding friends in multiple states, and keep meeting new riders all the time. The other day I was out for a solo ride running an errand and I came up behind a guy riding a Ryker...

What do you carry for Travel Snacks?

The other day I was out for a ride in the middle of nowhere and got hungry. I hadn't brought anything with me for the ride but I dug into my saddlebag and found a Cliff bar. It was probably in there for months and it was still good. Usually I have a protein bar of some sort, a pack of...

Is it possible to do an Oil Change without a lift?

I've never used ramps to change the oil on my F3. But I'm still comfortable laying down on the floor of my garage to do it. I purchased a low profile oil change pan at NAPA. It's wide enough to catch the oil from both sides of the bike. Pretty sure it was this one...

What is this strange noise?! Sunday Riding...

Loving this. I generally take it easy when my wife is aboard. But there are just times when a good road deserves some speed so I get into it and I usually get a "Woo Hoo!" out of her.

What do you think of the 'New for 2025 - Spyder Canyon'?

Street legal the rest of the time you're not off-road.

Cannot get the rear pulley to seat properly - any ideas?

First time I changed the tire on my F3S I had the same problem. Spraying the dampeners with silicone spray made the difference. Got it all back together, adjusted belt, and then found that I didn't properly index the pulley and it blocked access to the tire valve. Doh!!! Had to start all...

What do you think of the 'New for 2025 - Spyder Canyon'?

The Canyon is somewhat appealing to me. I was hoping for a Spyder with more ground clearance. I like to do some exploring on unpaved roads but if they're anything but well graded I'll end up turning around. Traction on wet/mud/sand/gravel and hills is a problem. I don't know how much the new...

So many complaints about the Spyders. Anyone with no problems?

2020 F3S with 41,000 miles. It's only been back to the dealer once for a loose clutch hub nut. I've never had a fault code. The OEM vibration damper roller failed and I replaced it myself with Lamonster's better design. That's it. It's been a great bike!

Rear wheel removal - can't get the brake caliper off or remove axle - help??

Having done this a few times on my F3S and a friend's F3S as well, you don't have to remove the shock bolt. Have you removed the two bolts holding the brake assembly to it's mounting bracket? To remove the axle, make sure there is little to no weight being applied on the tire. Jack the frame...

What actually needs replacing when changing the rear tire?

I found that the o-ring was damaged from the factory the first time I replaced my rear tire. Since then I make sure I have one on hand just in case I'm changing a tire and need it.

1330cc How fast can I safely run my F3 for how long?

You can also get Quatracs with V rating (149 MPH) which is what I have on my F3.

Do you have Water Spots on the Engine finish?

When my F3 was brand new, I used F11 Top Coat on all the engine surfaces I could get too as well as the body and fenders. I have hard water and don't get water spots. I also use my leaf blower to quickly dry off the bike and follow up with microfiber cloths.

What should I look for in a mesh jacket? Any Pros & Cons?

When I was looking to buy a mesh jacket, I was somewhat dismayed at the prices of the bigger name brands. Then I came across a Motonation brand jacket for under $100. Very nice quality, has inside pockets, removable rain liner and basically every feature the more expensive jackets had. I'm...

Anybody used Castrol EDGE Euro 5W-40 A3/B4 Adv Full Synthetic Motor Oil?

Search through 540Rat's oil reviews for Castrol. After reading what he says about the decline of Castrol's performance since being purchased by another company, I'm switching back to Mobile 1 4T.
