• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

2020 RTL Seat strut barely holds the seat open - ideas?

A couple of disparate suggestions: We use 9 inches cut off an old broomstick and stored in the left saddlebag. Just prop the seat open when fueling. Replacement gas springs are available from McMaster-Carr. I took a quick look at their prices and it seems like you could save money by dealing...

It's called a 'Motorcycle Exhaust Spring Hook'!

Your idea turned out to be the solution to the problem. I lowered the whole assembly by pivoting on the rear cat mounts. Then put on the top spring, then put the whole thing back.

It's called a 'Motorcycle Exhaust Spring Hook'!

I thought about this as I continued to work. If there is a specialty tool made for the purpose, I can't afford *not* to have it. My local motorcycle dealer charges $145 USD per hour for labor. That does not get me the master mechanic. The master mechanic is only called in AFTER the grease...

It's called a 'Motorcycle Exhaust Spring Hook'!

I tried this with washers, but it's so tight in there that the washers got in the way.

It's called a 'Motorcycle Exhaust Spring Hook'!

Clearly your hands are stronger than mine, Mr. Wolf. I did manage to get two of three springs in place with gloved hands and a pair of Vice Grips. For that third spring I need all the help I can get. It is indeed possible that I could loop a piece of steel wire around a frame member and make...

It's called a 'Motorcycle Exhaust Spring Hook'!

Sometimes the hard part of buying a tool is knowing what to call it. The tool to remove/replace the *fine* springs at the front of the catalytic converter is a 'Motorcycle Exhaust Spring Hook' - Available at Amazon and lots of other places. I strongly suggest you have all three wheels on the...

looking for some opinions on acceptable amount of miles when buying used..

Two reasons: The air bag had a cut in it. As a "road hazard" kind of thing it's not necessarily related to mileage. Then while we had the cycle all torn apart, we decided to replace the rear shock with Elka stage 2. That's because we are both big folks and need to give the cycle a little...

Just need confirmation before I use my tools ! Air compressor bypass.

Okay, I just looked at mine which is undergoing some repairs. If I wanted to disconnect the compressor and minimize cost I would do the following: Disconnect the hose from hub to the air bag at the hub end. Disconnect the hose from the Schrader valve to the hub at the hub end. Remove the...

looking for some opinions on acceptable amount of miles when buying used..

As "one who knows" I would urge you to leave $1000 in your budget if you do your own repairs and $4000 if you must have a pro mechanic do it. My darling's desire for a "nearly new" Spyder with 500 miles on it cleaned out the bank account. Then we had to DIY a new air bag and a new shock...

Dealers are refusing to work on Old Spyders!

Just using Google maps, I see four motorcycle mechanics within 20 miles of you. If one of these is the dealer who refused to work on your Spyder, there are still three people who are willing to eat his lunch for him.

Fix for the odd sized Pushpins in RT Black Panels!

There is one pushpin at the front inside of the black Tupperware on the Spyder RT. It goes vertically into a part of the frame just behind the A-arm. It is the same size and shape as the pushpins at the other end of the black panel behind the saddlebag. But it is SMALLER than the regular...

Gremlins or trouble? Limp Mode and Fault Codes

I was doing some other work on the cycle when I noticed that the brake light switch was just plain loose. Please check it.

Do you think a Spyder is for me? Need some advice from the Spyder Pros

My wife and I are in your age category and mostly agree with you. Just one caveat: Make sure to get your "ducks in a row" about the maintenance your Spyder will require. Do you trust your dealer? Is he nearby? Will he forget your name after the sale? Will you do your own maintenance? Is...

2020 RTL ACS Loses Air Overnight - is this normal?

Is replacing a 2011 RT Air Bag substantially the same for a 2020 RT? I see a video about replacing the air bag on a 2011 Spyder RT. But my Spyder is a 2020. Is the procedure substantially the same or profoundly different?

Spyder enjoyment vs. experience of ownership

More agreement. Although I have only dealt mail-order with Lamonster Garage, they have treated me right. Like parts that were supposed to take 2 months but showed up in two weeks. At BRP, we are the afterthought to an afterthought. Primarily they make airplanes. Then they make snowmobiles...
