• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Bouncing Fuel Gauge

My dealer told me that he talked to BRP and the replacement is a new tank with a dampener, not a new gauge. Need to ask Carlo about that one, I guess.

    Continuation of my sad story

So, I got my Spyder RT-S back from the dealership. It was in for the second time after showing DPS/VSS/engine lights and going in to limp mode. They told me the fault was listed as "not externally diagnosable" and that BRP told them to reset the communication system (the fault was with the...

    Front trunk issues

How does one adjust that? Also, are the side trunks adjustable? Mine require a very definite and positive movement to latch, and I'm wondering if it can be made easier.

    RECC - blue?

Every now and then my RECC screen becomes blue, instead of the usual grey. What is this supposed to mean?

    Gas odor

I noticed yesterday while riding that my dad's blue RT seemed to smell a bit of gas. I had filled the tank to the top, though I still smelled the gas after 35 miles riding, which should have lowered the level by a gallon or so. It was a hot day yesterday (maybe 90 degrees). What do you...

Engine groan while going 1/2 throttle to 3/4 or higher to WOT

Both my RT's groan the way you describe at roughly the same RPM. It is just the way the engine sounds.

    DPS issue

I will, if he hasn't seen this exchange already. He had been kind enough to call me previously, and to put in a word for me at the dealer (who have been trying to be helpful, too), which I much appreciated. Of course, that was before this latest event.

    DPS issue

Got my RT-S back today. Drove about twenty miles, got on an off-ramp, and suddenley felt the bike tug to the left, pulling me toward the outside of the corner for a moment. Not uncontrollable - it only happened briefly, like the VSS had triggered the left front brake. Then on came the VSS...

    Limp Mode

My problem appears to have been a bad sensor.

    DPS issue

The dealer says that the problem was a bad steering sensor - so I guess I'll wait and see how she operates on the road.

    Disappointment

The brakes are not great. No bite. Maybe a different pad will help.

    Disappointment

My RT's both are smooth at highway speeds, unless there is heavy wind, then they do move about. I put that down to the huge surface area. I've felt it on two wheelers too, but they presented less surface area, and possibly the trike design has an impact too. I guess I just accept that as an...

    Limp Mode

Sounds like your problem is identical to mine. Mine's in the shop. We'll see what happens there. Sorry to say, mine went 120 miles with no problems before going into limp mode the second time. Mine also happened at highway speed when changing lanes, both times. I think you may need to...

    Waterproofing clothing

I have a Triumph one-piece rainsuit from when I had a 595i. I have an HD Canal Street two-piece from when I owned a Deuce (traded on an RT). I have a FieldSheer thermal suit that is rainproof from when I rode a Hayabusa. I would always choose to buy a rainsuit for the purposes of not getting...

    Morning Wave

Hi Mole - That was me, on my way to work via the southbound 395 HOV lanes on my Dad's blue RT A&C - my RT-S is in the shop. Nice to see another Spyder on the road. Good to see you too! Take care, Ben

Have I been honest in my RT reviews?

I've owned both. It depends what you're looking for that a stock GS does not offer.

    Disappointment

Well, and just to note, my DPS issue may be a little different than what some have reported on the GS machines. Mine went into limp mode flashing the DPS light, which is why I call it a DPS issue. But I didn't experience the famous 'notch' or pulling to one side, so it may be a software...

    Disappointment

I have two RT's in my garage. One is my Dad's, but I ride them both. One is in the shop due to the DPS issue. Taking that aside, I've set both to the second to most firm suspension setting. I'm about 218 lbs. Both handle very well and very nimbly, with no wallowing (after I increased the...

    Limp Mode

My steering got noticeably stiffer, so I think there's actually something wrong with the DPS unit. Odd that the VSS light also lit up. Agree with your comments, but specific codes in the absence of maintenance or letting the thing sit around till the battery goes flat usually spell trouble.
