• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    New Spyder? Still somewhat wary

So I've had three Spyder's, one 2008 RS, and two 2010 RT's, one of which replaced the RS. The RS was never a problem. The two RT's were a disaster - constant engine lights and limping home. Related to steering, if I recall. Never worked right. So I sold them both. The RS and one of the...

    Trading RT's

I agree it could have a minor cause, but that's part of my problem with the Spyder. They have a level of sensitivity to minor issues that I've never seen before. It would be one thing if a minor issue was a minor inconvenience - such as the malfunctioning gas gauge or gasoline odor. I can...

    Trading RT's

So, to continue this story... My new RS has a bit more than 100 miles on the ODO, and it threw a VSS fault yesterday and went into limp mode on the highway. That means three out of four Spyders I've owned have had electronics problems within the first few hundred miles. I find it hard to...

    Sent the RTS packing

Well, I think that less than 4000 have the RT. I dumped both mine, after having repeated problems with them. There are clearly many more that have had repeated problems who have not dumped the RT, so they are clearly more hopeful, more patient, or simply not willing to either give up the...

    FINALLY BITTEN

The speed issue was probably because you were in limp mode, which limits revs to the range you note and top speed to 50 mph.

    Sent the RTS packing

Well, as someone who owns a Porsche Panamera, I have to point to the recent report that Porsche makes the most reliable car line out there. Now Jag is a piece of crap.

Did you ever get the check engine/limp mode and then it went away?

I don't think that is right. More accurately, I certainly hope that is not right. I have been traveling at 70 on the highway before when my Spyder RT went into limp mode, dropping me down below 50 and nearly causing an accident. So, I certainly hope that BRP has not engineered a safety...

    Very Impressed with BRP

Well, I agree. I think it's hard for people who haven't been without their ride for a long time to sympathize with the frustration of those who have, and there's a certain amount of defensiveness going around too.

    Sent the RTS packing

Well, I'll make an exception for the 'new Triumph'. Had a Triumph 955i for a while - great bike.

    Sent the RTS packing

Sold both of mine because of the issues. I don't have Scotty's patience. The era of British bikes is over - or should be.

    Very Impressed with BRP

As I mentioned, I traded the RT's for an FJR and a Spyder RS (so I'm staying in the family, at least). The FJR Forum has a subforum called "Technical/Mechanical Problems". This is in addition to its "Technical Discussion" forum. I really do think that pierrelogic is right in suggesting that...

    Very Impressed with BRP

Apologies, I missed that you'd already suggested a sub-forum. Great idea - I'd suggest "Frustrated", although Copper may already have copyrighted that.

    Very Impressed with BRP

I take it the 'hijacking' aspect was saying something less than positive in response to a positive post? Only kudos would be appropriate? How come I never see this complaint when someone is describing a problem with their Spyder and others jump in to say they are only having good experiences...

    Trading RT's

I do think the RT and RS are different in terms of the issues they experience - after all, I traded one of the RT's for an RS. The RS has had issues, but they seem mostly to be ironed out at this point. Like I said - BRP was advising the dealer on my RT's and could not fix the problems - so...

    Trading RT's

Not sure... Those don't seem like the issues I was having. My bike locked up the left wheel momentarily on a curve, then flashed DPS, VSS, engine light, and went into limp mode. That was once. The other times it simply flashed the lights and went into limp mode. Same with my Dad's bike...

Who can beat my Spyder in captivity?

I can so easily beat that. One of mine was in for well over 60 days (only interrupted by a few hours in my hands before it went back in).

    Trading RT's

To those who have had no problems with their Spyder RT's - I think that's great, and I hope and trust they will remain trouble-free. I agree that all new models have some issue or other, but when you're the one that does (especially two machines!) it tends to color the experience and the...

    Trading RT's

I'm trading both my RT's that I bought in April today. One for a Yamaha FJR1300A for me, and a Spyder RS for my dad. My RT has spent most of the last 3 months in the shop, and my dad's is now having the same trouble with module communications. Third time mine has been in the shop with the...

    Frustrated

Both my Spyder RTs have been in the dealer's service dept for three weeks now (this time). Both have issues with modules not communicating. One has been in the shop off and on for months now (it's spent far more time with the dealer than me). I've only put a few hundred miles on it. My...

    Bouncing Fuel Gauge

The dealer told me that BRP told him that a gas gauge to fix the problem is not available - that that it will be fixed when the revised gas tank is released.
