• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Parasitic drain?

Plugged My dealer gave me a quick connect for a battery tender and I bought a tender right away. I use it every day and I think that it will extend battery life.;)

    600 Mile Service

Cost The first service is a must. I know guys that didn't bother but an oil change is not the only thing done. Belt adjustment, Budds hookup to check out everything and reset steering and greasing those hard to get at grease nipples on the suspension joints. I would think about two hours or so...

    spark plug heat paste

BRP calls it heat sink but is it not just an anti seize that stops corrosion between the different metals aluminum & steel?

Should it take 4 months to fix my Spyder?

4 Months!! That is outrageous !!! One month would be more then enough to make my blood boil and demand my money back, not a new bike. If they can't fix it then they didn't build it right!! What guaranty that the next one would not be the same! Good Luck as it seems so many of us have not had...

    Fuel Octane

So True I agree with you Scotty. If recommended then use it. For the back yard engineers, use what ever suits your personal needs. The RT has a higher compression engine then the GS does and detonation is a killer. Many Miata guys that I know think of saving a few bucks when filling up as the...

You heard it here first- BRP Owners Event 2012

Mountain passes Just thinking ahead as I am from Ontario and am registered for our Ontario Rally June 22nd-24th and would think it should be after that because those mountain pass open late some years depending on the winter. By the way, Colorado is my favorite state. Independence Pass my...

    Brake Failure

I do not disagree with what you say but I must ask, if I use the mighty vac to extract the old fluid out through the bleed line then should it be free of air as long as the master is kept full?? It has worked for me a thousand times. :)

    Brake Failure

Your are right that bleeding manually will not completely bleed the entire system but I think the small amount that is in the VCM is not an issue once mixed with fresh fluid. The first thing I did with my Benz was the get the ABS and Stability control to click in on a rainy day to just get the...

    Brake Failure

Why Budds? I have done lots of vehicles including a Mercedies that has a sofisticated stability control without hooking up a computer so why does a Spyder need it to just bleed the brakes. I use the mighty vac system to pull fluid through the lines and the key is always off so the computer does...

    Vibration -- Motor Mount Clearance

A great picture but I looked under my Spyder and my panels for oil change are removed and still can not see the area. It must be ahead and near the rad or oil resivoir ??

    Vibration -- Motor Mount Clearance

Hi Jeff. Thanks for the picture. From what I see it looks as if there is a rubber shim v shaped from the factory that flattens and I think you are putting a shim under it to get the engine up higher? Am I right?

    Drops of Gas?

Your right about hit and miss as I always fill it the same way just to go farther before a fill up. Guess BRP needs to make a larger multi cylinder engine that will burn less gas or am I dreaming again or is this a wishfull dream??

    Coating on drain plug

Not Worried You are both right, nothing to worry about. Just for the record, I put a magnetic bolt on my car once and it came out clean, not gears in there like our bikes. The Spyder oil does both engine and gearbox. Manual gearboxes in cars have magnets and they get sludge as well, oh well.

    Coating on drain plug

Wow, you have me thinking here. I to have the gold plugs on both drain bolts and my last change found very little on the engine and almost nothing on the resivoir tank. You have enough mileage that you have done a few changes so if yours have been like like mine and now all of a sudden there is...

    Elka shocks on RT...DAQ?

You are right Scotty but the caster setting will automatically go into the positive from what I think is 0 degrees from the factory because the Spyder sits higher with Elkas on and the more preload on the Elkas the higher the front end. I also think that the front end does NOT settle down much...

    Drops of Gas?

Overfill Yes, you are right and yes I did top it up just before my ride because I was on unknown roads so next time I will not do it and give it a try. Thanks for reminding me.

    Drops of Gas?

I dodn't know we had a canister but thanks, that makes sense. I never noticed drops on the floor before but the smell, yes. My tank was not full, almost at 1/4 tank so I was wondering? I thought fuel or fumes that went to the canister are burned while driving?
