• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Carrying extra fuel?

I had that same Tour Tank on my Triumph, nicely spun aluminum, weighs NOTHING when empty. And the included steel bands make for very easy base mounting. Good choice.

    Carrying extra fuel?

Not the prettiest, huh! I've had aux fuel cells on my last 3 machines - 2 BMWs and a Triumph Sprint ST. The BMW installs both required electric fuel pumps for the transfer but the install on the Triumph was high enough to enable gravity transer. In all 3 cases I plumbed into the tank...

    Inspecting Air Filter

As above. Had mine off a few months ago to have a look around. It required some serious wrestling to get out. Just make sure all the clips are released first. Slightly easier going back together. Stuart

do you ever feel like your spyder is not the same day to day?

I've got 12,000 miles on my Spyder over the past 12 mo. and have had some days when it just didn't seem to be running quite right. I think some of this could be caused by poor gasoline. I bought some additive but can't remember the name - added a small amount at each fuel up and it seemed to...

    SpyderLovers Meet in Daytona!-Updated

I will be in JAX on Friday 3-6 for the Iron Butt Dinner, riding down Thurs/Friday from PA. I could meet on Sat AM 3-7. What is address of this Hess Station (if that is now the meeting destination)? I'll likely be heading back north later on Sat, at least make the SC border by Sat evening...

Is Can Am going to be an exhibitor there? Would like to go but heading back to China this Thursday. Oh well. Have a good time there and I'll see you in March or April. Stuart

    Mounting Gadgets 'n STUFF

Check out RAM Mounts. Handled by Cycle Gadgets and other sources. I've mounted my Garmin GPS on my right handlebar using a few basic RAM components. The small plastic band can be easily removed with a knife and allows space for the RAM U-bolt mount. Then . . . use your imagination.

Iron Butt Dinner Friday March 6 - JAX

The official announcement was just posted for the Iron Butt Annual Dinner Party in Jacksonville, FL for Friday March 6. I've not missed this dinner in 6 years, although it can be dicey riding down from PA in early March. The temp typically does not reach 40F until southern VA or the Carolinas...

    OffTopic- PayPal Question

Not Spyder related, but I did have a nice brief ride today. I've listed a Motion (PC) Tablet on Craigslist and had a response from a buyer in South Africa. I was asking $500 for the unit and he offered to pay me, via PayPal $700, to include ship charges via USPS Express Int'l Mail to Jo-Berg...

    Reliability

Tomorrow is 1 YR since I picked up #445. I've got 12,000 miles on the clock - not bad considering I am traveling (by air) about 40% of my time. My Spyder has never let me down! Have travelled down to FL last March - temp in the 30's til I reached SC; out to MN a few months ago, including...

How well do Spyders Tour and handle long high speed trips?

I've had my Spyder since last December and now have 12,000 miles on the clock. I've made a number of long rides, the first in early March from Pittsburgh down to Jacksonville, about 2400 miles r/t in about 5 days. More recently I rode out to MN for a meeting, and stopped in Duluth on the way...

C.H.A.D. vs CAL SCI vs CORBIN wind deflectors

I installed a CalSci XL yesterday. Went out for a brief ride, and 100 miles today, most at 60-75 mph. Prior I had a BRP Touring screen with a Laminar Lip. I am 6' tall and have STOCK bars, NO riser. Not only is the ride quieter, minimal buffeting, but the engine now sounds like a turbine...

Ride to MN, Very Boring Rally, 2010 mi.

This is a 'lightened' version of my recent write-up - I removed all photos. I attended the first Very Boring Rally in August 2003 – celebrating the 20th anniversary of the development of the Aerostich ‘Roadcrafter’ textile riding suit. For some strange reason, the way this rally was touted...

    Spyder Fuel Cell Mod

Funny you should ask. I actually ordered an EZ Leaker some years ago before my very first Iron Butt documented ride. I removed it from the packaging, looked at it, and shoved it in a drawer under some old sweaters. I think it is still there. I know another Iron Butt guy - one of the...

    Two Happiest Days

You've got a great pair in your garage! When my Spyder (#445) arrived last Dec I had also a Triumph Sprint 955 and I pretty much stopped riding it. So a few weeks ago I sold it and replaced it with a slightly used Buell XB12R - wow is that one fun to ride. So now my Spyder has about 6000...

Route info, Rt 2 from Duluth east

I am riding my Spyder from Pittsburgh to New Prague, MN next week for a meeting, then north to Duluth for the Aerostich Very Boring Rally. For the return route I am considering Rt 2 east across the top of WI and MI to the Mackinac Bridge, connecting to I75, then south to Toldeo, etc. I'd...

    Aerostich Very Boring Rally

Is anyone going to the Very Boring Rally at Aerostich in Duluth, MN this weekend (8/22-25)?? http://www.boringrally.com/ This is the 25th anniversary of the Aerostich Roadcrafter suit. I went to the 20th Anniv (first) Very Boring Rally in Aug 03, and it was lots of fun, with many...
