• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Anyone seen this brake problem before?

Well, the parking brake is engaging on the 5th click of the pedal, so there should be plenty of free-play there...... and for sure the brake was all the way off, or at least the PEDAL was dis-engaged. I'm really convinced at this point that the rear brake has a real issue that I'm not qualified...

Anyone seen this brake problem before?

I took it out for a couple of short rydes this morning and here's what I noticed. After returning I checked the temp on all the rotors, and found both front rotors cool to the touch, but the rear rotor hot enough to flatten out the fingerprint on my forefinger. Now I know the rear pads drag...

Thanks, wyliec. I found that thread. Looky... paragraphs again! And, I will have it looked at next week, Scotty.

Anyone seen this brake problem before?

But, unlike your experience, I never touched this adjustment over the past 4300 trouble free miles. Perhaps it moved itself? You convinced me it's a hot fluid issue. Many thanks for that. I'm just not convinced of the source.... especially when I remember taking the parking brake off in an...

Anyone seen this brake problem before?

Yeah, I'll be taking it in next week, after the holiday. By the time I realized I had a problem and got safely off the road, ALL the brakes were hot, but I now suspect it started with the rear alone. That got the fluid hot enough to lock them all down. All the disks are now dis-colored from...

Anyone seen this brake problem before?

No hand brake here, and 4300 miles on the original foot brake adjustment without a problem. I wonder if my parking brake didn't release when I took it off before I left, and that could have heated the brake fluid up enough to do this. That heat part sounds for sure right, considering the...

Anyone seen this brake problem before?

I got a few miles from home on my 2012 RS SE5, when I noticed the smell of hot brakes. As I left off the throttle the Spyder slowed down abnormally fast, so I pulled off the road into a parking lot. After coming to a stop, going to neutral and turning the engine off, the bike wouldn't roll as...

    Handicapped Spyder Ryders.....Roll call!

After years of having limited usefulness from my left leg, it finally came to the point of leaving it behind and moving on. Bone cancer in that femur 35 years ago, followed by breaking the same radiation damaged bone 15 years ago led to bone replacement, with nerve, and muscle damage. Vascular...

NEED A LIST FOR THE OWNER'S EVENT IN MAGGIE VALLEY ? ? ?

I'd love to be there, but I haven't pulled the trigger on reservations yet. I don't have a trailer big enough to haul my Spyder, and my butt isn't up to two days of back to back 5 hour rides to get there yet. I've done some 2 hour rides in the past few days, but they hurt some. Now the...

    Observations at 3K

We must have friendlier Harley riders around here than y'all do out in Cali, KMacs. I get waves all the time from those guys. I even get asked to ride along with Harley riding buddies from time to time. They're not afraid to be seen with my machine.

    best oil?

Y'know.... it's kind of a tradition for new members to dredge up dead threads from the past. I've noticed it not only here, but on several different sites covering a vast area of different interests. I wonder why that is. Anyway, I'm not really trying to bust chops here.... just noting...

Yellowstone, Mt. Rushmore, Devils Tower, etc.

I love Yellowstone....done it twice, but I've never done it on a motorcycle. I remember several traffic jams where a herd of buffalo would be blocking the road and then mingling in with the traffic as they crossed over to the other side. I think I'd be a bit nervous exposed on a cycle seat...

    Sport Rack removal

Okay...now I see..... the bracket that the gas shock mounts to is also the same piece that the hinge pin runs through. Three bolts and the whole shebang is now loose for removal. I needed to stop looking at the removal instructions in the manual and just look at the parts list exploded...

    MIRROR EXTENTIONS ???

I used the Kewlmetal extensions also, since I'm too lazy to want to do any re-wiring. They work great and look great. I did think the screws might come loose from vibration, so I went heavy on Locktite and filled gaps with PC-7. Now I can see more in the rearviews than just my fists on the...

Len's Pitbull Brackets - Initial Ride Review

A picture taken from directly in front might help me to understand what these brackets accomplish. I tried to find a manufacturer source, but came up blank. Nothing relevent came up on a google search except for this thread.

    Sport Rack removal

Okay.... I'll look at the rear of the seat area again. I was just going by the shop manual. Him say to remove tail piece first to gain access to the hinge pin, before yanking same, thus freeing the seat. I assume removing this bolt you speak of lets you remove hinge, seat, and all as a unit?

    Sport Rack removal

I've got a downloaded copy of the 2012 service manual that I normally work by on other stuff, but it doesn't address the RS sport rack at all. I know it's bolted on a lot more solidly than the stock tail piece that is covered in the manual, but I don't know where to start taking this thing off...
