• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

All 2013 Spyders recalled for fire hazard

Good question. I would hope permanent solution. Your dealer should be able to tell you. Glad I have a '12. Just got back in July from a 5,000 mile trip through 113 degree deserts. Could've been bad news if I'd had a 2013 with serious heat melting plastic and fire problems.

All 2013 Spyders recalled for fire hazard

I received a Facebookl notice from BRP today via my local power sports dealer that all 2013 Spyders will be recalled because of melting plastic causing brake fluid to leak and causing a fire. The recall is already in effect in Canada and is about to be in the US. The dealers will install a heat...

    ALL 2013 Spyders recalled

Did I hear correctly today? All 2013's have been recalled because of plastic melting causing brake fluid to leak and cause a fire? I received an email notice from BRP via my local power sports dealer. Dealers will install a heat shield. :yikes:

Just returned from 5,000 mile 3 week trip to Grand Canyon. Butt sore!

Thanks all. Some good skinny to check out. I was pretty toasty round about Missouri coming back so I may be wrong about the octane there, but west of there and west of Tennessee it was all lower octane. Occassionally ethanol, occassionally not. In the east the octane is better but many if not...

    Noob experiencing front end wobble.

Farm roads? Be careful about riding off-pavement. Spyders are belt driven and not meant for gravely or dirt roads because you don't want dirt or stones, etc getting between the belt and sprocket. The owner's manual has a warning about this too.

Just returned from 5,000 mile 3 week trip to Grand Canyon. Butt sore!

Just got back from a 5,000 mile 3 week trip to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon on my RT-S, where I stayed for a week. NC, TN, AR, OK, TX, NM, AZ, NV, UT, CO, KS, MO, IL, KY, TN, NC. I have now become more than familiar with Tired Butt. After an hour or so the nerve in my left butt bone began...

Most comfortable long distance seat? Corbin, Russell, Day-Long, Ultimate.......

Thanks. That's why I decided to go with the Airhawk R for the trip. It's an inflatable seat cushion. :D

Most comfortable long distance seat? Corbin, Russell, Day-Long, Ultimate.......

Speaking of foot pegs... I found that putting my feet out at the very end of the pegs helps a LOT with the right leg heat problem.

Most comfortable long distance seat? Corbin, Russell, Day-Long, Ultimate.......

Because of the time constraints I decided to go with the Airhawk R for the trip, and when I get back I'll probably get either: 1) The new Kontour seat. Claims: Allows a lot of airflow under the butt, no seams, no stitches, guaranteed completely waterproof, guaranteed UV/sunproof, doesn't get...

Most comfortable long distance seat? Corbin, Russell, Day-Long, Ultimate.......

Now THAT's usefull stuff. Does the 2" rise position the knees better, or would I still need a longer seat? Stock seating is 15 to 15-1/2 inches long. Yours came longer without asking for it? Sergio at Corbin said that they could make me an 18" length and didn't mention that their seat was 2"...

Sorry PrairieSpyder, but if I already knew the answer I wouldn't have asked the question. Thanks for the assist.:banghead:

Most comfortable long distance seat? Corbin, Russell, Day-Long, Ultimate.......

Thanks. I do like the looks of your Lamonster Corbin seat. I wish I had more time to check out different seats at events, but I leave for the Grand Canyon North Rim in 31 days. Sergio at Corbin says he can mod a seat for 18" length for the rider's seat to give my knees a better angle for long...

Most comfortable long distance seat? Corbin, Russell, Day-Long, Ultimate.......

Thanks for the quick replies. I realize it's up to the individual butt, but I was hoping to hear from some experience. Rather than just read that so-and-so says their seat is best I was hoping for some consensus or direction. Many owners here have had multiple bikes and have enough experience to...

    Hot foot problem

Don't know how it is with the 2013's floor boards, but on my '12 I've found that moving my feet out to the end of the pegs with my heels NOT pointed in while riding makes a HUGE difference heat wise. Much, much cooler. Also, there was a heat mod I read here on the forum involving cutting 2"...

Most comfortable long distance seat? Corbin, Russell, Day-Long, Ultimate.......

OK. I've looked over the posts and comments here and all over the web. If you have a Russell it's the most comfortable and wearable. If you have a Corbin it's the most comfortable and wearable. If you have an Ultimate it's the most comfortable and wearable. If you have a Day-Long... Etc, etc...

    Proper Tire Pressure???

18 front 27 rear I use 18 psi in the front tires and 27 psi in the rear. I also use nitrogen to keep tires cooler and reduce leaks (nitrogen molecules are larger). My rear valve stem is no problem. I just go through one of the sprocket openings on the left side.

    RT front end wobble

Fixed same problem Shimmy was slight at first gradually getting worse. It seemed to me to be the left wheel causing the problem. Finally it was so bad I couldn't go over 40MPH. Dealership couldn't find anything wrong the first two times I brought it in. Finally, since it'd gotten so bad that...

    2012 RT - what's the Oil capacity?

About an 1/8th inch over full My oil level was low, just below registering on the dip stick. I checked after running the engine for about 4 minutes at idle. I put in 1/2 qt and that put it in the middle of the fill range. I ran the engine for 2 more minutes at idle, and put in a little more...

What type and where do I get proper oil for RT when on the road?

SE grade I believe that it must be the new SE (NOT SAE) grade motorcycle oil for wet clutches in the SE-5 semi-automatic transmission.
