• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Snow and Ice

Will await the results of this new tyre with anticipation. Maybe if it is much better than a standart tyre, use it all year round and get a new fitted at the end of October each year, if they last that long.

    How about gloves?

I have three pairs of gloves and all different. First pair is Teknic and are really a spring or autumn glove and maybe for a cooler summer. No good in the rain. Second pair are a Spyder pair, yes, they even have a spyder enblem on the top of them. It seems that they were made specific for the...

    Snow and Ice

Lots of snow here last week, that has cleared up and led to a bigger problem, black ice in the mornings. Thawing through the day and roads freezing from 5pm onwards. In the paper today, THE SNOW SOCK, you pull this over the tyre of driven wheels. They are made of a textile that optimises grip on...

    Snow and Ice

Great news and great ideas all round. The last time I got a tyre changed I had to drive 150 miles to find someone able to do the job, so that idea is out considering the snow and ice problem. The roads do not have ice everywhere, some patches are clear, so even if I could get studs I would not...

    Snow and Ice

Anyone out there been doing any driving on snow and ice ? and if so, is there anything I can get to improve the grip on the back tyre. I am reluctant to do anything with chains as this would only damage the alloy. No choice on walking or other transport, the spyder is all I have, unless the...

    Rain Gear Recommendations??

Been doing a lot of testing over the past few weeks and the best solution I have come up with is to put on some good comfortable gear and a cheap waterproof layer on top. The more expensive gear does not seem to be great in the rain, but the gore tex cheaper stuff is great. So you have comfort...

    spyderlovers.com High Risk?

I have seen this on a couple of times also, but with just an individual link, not the site itself. Perhaps someone brings on a virus without knowing about it, I just do not click on those links.

    Removable Windshield

Maybe, maybe for long trips, like over an hour. But having tried one of those long windshields, I thought it took so much away from the biking experience that I took it off and have not used it since,, pouring rain or 50mph winds. I might put it on during the winter if there is a storm and I...

    2010 Photo Scavenger Hunt

Congrats to everyone on the hunt. It was fun to drive to new places to get a photo and worth the effort. I will be requesting an international contest next time, without such items as a town with a president of the USA and such like. Otherwise, thanks to the organiser of the event, much time...

    Another fire -

Very sorry to hear that your spyder is gone and I feel I know what you are talking about when you said that you treated it like a baby and still went up in flames. These fires have made me worry because I park mine in a wooden shed right next to the 100 gallon tank of home heating oil. Have been...

Waterproof shades for RT & RS

Sounds like a good idea to stop people sitting on the :spyder2:. The old rule still applies as a two wheeler,,, do not sit on someone's bike. Was told a story recently about some girls on a hen night seen sitting on a couple of motorbikes and taking photos,, imagine the trouble if one of the...

R.I.P. Spyder 2683 up in flames

Damn, what a charcoal mess. Hope you are okay. What the hell happened to cause that to happen. I have seen a couple of posts with bikes on flames but this is not good. Even after the insurance paying out, your premium will go up, and all that crap to deal with as well. Wishing you all the best.

    DPS Replacement- Letter to Owners

Don't have internet speed to open file, but guessing that BRP are talking about replacing DPS units. If anyone out there is talking to anyone with more than sawdust in their heads at BRP, could you find out what the position may be with a non-guaranteed bike in a foreign country that has no...

    2010 Photo Scavenger Hunt

Well !! After another two hours looking at the screen and poking around trying different things, I am giving up on this link thing, OR I could be held responsible for finding a hammer and using it on the computer which would not really solve any problems. I have been back and forth to FLICKR.COM...

    Help Me Decide!

Go and do it, if its what you want. Life is too short. I live 15000,, oh wait ! I don't have any dealer in the country, nada. Not too worried though. Can do less than you, not a clue where the oil goes. Will deal with things as they arise. Have fun while you can.

WHY MY SPYDER WOULD NOT START

Good ending to that story, if a bit red cheeked. When I first got my bike, out of the crate and out for my first drive to town, no dealer here to telephone,, remember that one. Also, nobody tells you all the details of the bike, just interested in the sale. So there I was, parked in not the best...
