• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Floorboards

Good choice! That's actually the one I'm leaning towards as well. They just came out with a design for the SM5, which includes the heel/toe shifter. Let us know how you like it, and post some pictures as well.

    Floorboards

I really like the looks of the Web Boards, but have heard great things about Seal boards. Would be nice to hear from some that has those, or others to compare also.

How many miles on your current Spyder?

2012 RT. Bought it on March 30 with 11 miles on it. 4 months later, it has over 4,500. And we haven't even taken it on a long trip yet.

Limp mode = close to death encounter

Very good point. I agree completely. I had my first limp mode last week. Fortunately it occurred in an area where not much traffic was in. I was able to pull off the road at the next driveway. It just slowed down. I didn't know what to expect. Glad you weren't hit. That's a dangerous place to...

    Leaking water pump seal

I had the same issue with my 2012 RT. Started leaking a small amount; took it in to the dealer, and they diagnosed it as this. Said they have had several with the same issue. Ordered the parts, took the RT back to the shop. 6 hour job from start to finish. But got it fixed, and no issues...

That's exactly why I visit Charleston every year --- in the Winter!

    DPS Check

Got it. Thanks. Hope I never have to experience that one. :sour: I'm very thankful for SpyderLovers. I would have probably panicked when it happened. But I was prepared. I knew what to do, and it worked. :2thumbs:

    DPS Check

Just curious -- What is considered REAL LIMP MODE? And how did you re-boot it? I wonder how that was different than what happened to me? I just let the RT sit for 2-3 minutes, started it back up, and I was off again.

    DPS Check

Thanks. I really appreciate the feedback. So far, 200+ miles since the fault, and no additional problems. Hopefully it was just a fluke. I'm due in a couple weeks to have it in the shop for its 4600 mile service. I'll mention it to the tech.

    DPS Check

Just had my first DPS limp mode fault to come on. Stopped the bike, turned it off, waited a few minutes, and it started right back up. Continued about 12 miles with no problems. The only thing I can imagine it may be was running 63 MPH in 4th gear, with the cruise control on. Going around a...

Your Spyder - What Year, Model, Miles, Issues... ??

2012 RT SM5 Purchased new on April 30. 3,800 trouble-free miles. Only issue was a warranty gasket replacement at the water pump. But even that wasn't bad enough to keep me from riding it while the part was being ordered. Love this thing!!!!!

    Diversity Riders

Sounds like a great ride. Sorry we missed it. We had a charity ride in Denton today. About 300 bikes, but only saw 4 other Spyders. We'll try to catch your next one.

    NC/SC Dealers?

Purchased my 2012 RT from RPM Cycles in Albemarle. They are the only ones I have dealt with, but it's hard to believe that anyone could be any better. Very knowledgeable and trustworthy.

To Roll Off or Not To Roll off that is the question

Wait a Minute......... Are you saying that it isn't necessary to roll off the throttle when changing gears in an SM5? Exactly how does that work?

    RT Shelf Kit

Oh, I agree. If I knew it was this flimsy, I definitely would not have bought it. But since I do have it, at least I found a way to make it work. ;)

    RT Shelf Kit

Put it through a good test this evening. No problems. With the way the straps are near the end of the shelf, it provides a much more stable shelf. Put my keys, wallet and phone on the shelf. Before, it would fall into the black hole; this time, they stayed put. This also slightly leans the...

tip for checking and filling rear spyder tire

This is really nice to know. I have been thinking that there should be an easier way to check the PSI and to add air to the rear tire. Very awkward. Thanks for posting!

    RT Shelf Kit

Then the thought hit me. In order to support the rear of the shelf, the strap needs to be pushed back. So, contarary to the instructions, I positioned the brackets at each end to more of an angle, therefore moving the strap closer to the back. This seems like it will help support the shelf...
