• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What kind of rider are you?

Old time rider Right now, I am a Spyder rider only. For the past 60+ years I have ridden things from the Whizzer, Servi-cycle, WWII Indian Scout, 47 Indian Chief 80 cu.in., a bunch of Brit bikes. First swing arm was a 1955 Norton ES2 500cc single. I thought I had died and gone to heaven...

My Corbin seat arrives on 6-30-08

Corbin seats et al SpyderBiker - If you do go the trike route, recommend Motor Trike conversions vs the Lehman approach. I have had both and the Lehman rides like a Farmall tractor compared to a Motor Trike version. Jack H.

    Remote garage door button

Garage door opener. I too took the easy way out. Just velcroed a mini door opener onto the shroud just behind the windshield. Have used this method on several bikes over the years. Jack H.

    Speed Governor

Amen! But then I am speaking as a 77 year old rider with 60 years plus of riding. Going so fast that the telephone poles look like a picket fence was fun 50 years ago, but not now. I just ride along at 60-65 with a big grin on my face. Damn! Ive had a good life! Jack H.

    Oil consumption

Took off all kinds of panels so I could look at the air box. Just exactly where is the tube that is sending the oil to the airbox. I have never seen such a complex machine in my life. I grew up on old British singles and over the years have adapted to the new technologies. (Somewhat). This one...

3000 mile oil change just a bit early

I have been riding Japanese equipment for years with plain old Castrol oil and 5000 mi. change intervals. These were wet clutch machines and never gave me a bit of trouble. I just have an uneasy feeling that I am being taken to the cleaners! On the other hand, after paying 15K for a machine...

    Oil consumption

Took off the panels so I could access the air box. There was an oily film on the bottom of the airbox, but nothing that would account for over 600cc of oil over the 2500 mi. time frame. Also there has been no oil drippings on the garage floor. I have the sneaky feeling that I have an oil burner...

3000 mile oil change just a bit early

You will have $50 in oil, $15 in filter, $8 in O ring and washers. That's $73 before labor. The Spyder is an expensive little lady to maintain. My Honda Shadow Trike was about $4 for oil, $2.5 for filter and I never needed to change the drain plug washer. Also the change interval was 5000...

    Oil consumption

Anyone out there have a Spyder that is using oil? I had mine serviced at 620 miles and checked the oil level after I got it home. The oil level was correct. Over the next 2500 miles I have had to add approx. 600cc of oil. I broke the engine in according to the manual and am surprised at the oil...

    You got to love Spyders

Had a wasp bang into my hard hat and somehow flipped up inside and was walking on my faceshield about two inches from my nose. I probably set the world's record in immediate stopping and hard hat removal! All went well. The wasp flew away and I continued on. Whew! Jack H.

    BRP shipping updates..

For Mark - Thanks for talking to that man who had lost his leg and thought he might never ride again. You gave him a new lease on life and the chance to again enjoy one of the greatest sports in this world. Well done! Jack H.

Mirror Extensions; why not DIY from other materials?

Here is my two cents worth. I got the mirror extensions and they opened up a whole new world for me. I can see completely behind me and off to each side as well. And the objects are real world size, not skewed as with the spots. I use the spots on my autos and they are fine, but the extensions...
