• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Fantastic Fear or Frantic Panic....

Excellent advice! I am taking it easy for now, and getting more comfortable with it. Took it out for about 100 miles today - mostly mildly curvy 60 mph stuff with little traffic. By the end of the ride, the only places I was still getting a bit of a *gulp* feeling were curves with some...

    Fantastic Fear or Frantic Panic....

I'm not the most confident rider ever, and I also hate interstates, even in the car. (Lucky for me, I no longer live anywhere near one!) Lots of good advice here, which I'm soaking up as well. While I feel ever so much more confident on the Spyder after less than 30 miles than I ever did on...

    Spyder came home today!

It snowed (luckily, no accumulation) the last two days, but tomorrow is supposed to be non-precipitous. Time to RYDE!

    Spyder came home today!

I signed the paperwork, had the orientation (no breathalyzer, BTW ;) ), took it for a few turns and a few practice stops around the parking lot, then out on the road. I freakin' LOVE it! :ohyea:    It's different, no doubt. Because of the three "tracks," I noticed its tendency...

WORLDS FIRST! AIRBAGGED ,360 TIRE SPYDER!!

Is that why there's the huge "not for off-road use" disclaimer? Because of the Nanny? LOL!

WORLDS FIRST! AIRBAGGED ,360 TIRE SPYDER!!

Has anyone heard of anyone customizing a Spyder for off-roading? Maybe not serious off-roading, but lifted and bigger/different tires, possibly conversion from belt to chain. Having come from riding a dual-sport motorcycle for a number of years, I'd be insterested in customizing my Spyder for...

    storage solutions

I'm going to go ahead and get the outdoor cover that BRP sells as a temporary thing. We've probably got enough lumber stored in our barn to build something big enough, but it can take months, if not years, to get hubby motivated to do something like that. ;) We might have to buy some...

I've been looking at the metal carport kits that run about $600-700.

    storage solutions

I'm in the same boat. Stored my motorcycle on my covered porch in the summer, but the Spyder is too wide. Looking for (not-too-expensive) options. :dontknow:

    Test ride next week cancelled!

I hope to do just that. There's an elementary school with a decent sized paved parking lot not too far from my house. It should be empty after about 4PM on weekdays and all day on weekends and will be a good place to practice and hone! (Private joke: Marilyn, I may actually do some...

    Test ride next week cancelled!

Good point......and I bought it on Supermoon Day! Gotta be a sign!

    Test ride next week cancelled!

Silver and black. Not the color I wanted, but beggars can't be choosers, eh? ;) I have two hours scheduled for orientation. Hope that's enough. Thanks for the tip about the exercises in the manual! Can't wait!

    Test ride next week cancelled!

Why? Because I went ahead and bought the 2009 RS SE5 today. :D I had "sudden bike sale" happen this morning. Guy called me at 9PM last night, wanted to come look at it on Monday. Called me back at 9AM this morning, said he found out his bank was open today, so could he come look at it this...

    Test ride next week!

I'll definitely check those out. They'd have to be pretty near me - I'm not really in a position to travel far to get one. One day out and back round trip (no overnight) is the most I could manage.

    Test ride next week!

LOL! The salesman told me to plan on at least a couple of hours for the demo, because they do a little "training" in their parking lot before they take you out on the road for your demo ride. I was happy to hear it!

    Test ride next week!

I REALLY appreciate all the great advice I have received here. I am definitely planning on purchasing an extended warranty. I would not even have considered it were it not for all of you folks strongly recommending it, so that is a particularly valuable little nugget of information! I was...

    I need some help, please

Hi Marilyn - I found you! Glad you found a solution for your backrest needs. I hope to be posting similar questions within a few weeks. Money will definitely be an issue for me, too!

    Hoping to join Spyderhood soon

Thanks for the heads-up! I'm apparently about halfway in between the two get-togethers - in Colorado. Probably not in the cards for me to go either direction this year. This medical stuff has eaten up most of my leave time.....not to mention which buying a Spyder is going to eat up all of my...

I'm jealous! I probably won't get mine for at least a few weeks. Congrats, and enjoy!
