• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    BRP passenger peg extentions

Support brackets for BRP bags The black support brackets are part of the BRP hard bag installation kit, not necessary if you are just gonna use the rear peg extenders. The extenders are well-made but the fasteners are all wrong for use without bags, rear mounting bolt for right side which also...

    Mirror Extensions & F-1 windshield

Heat gun may be needed I have the F1 and the KewlMetal mirror extenders. I found the windshield to be slightly misshapen at the widest point so I bent it a little with a heat gun I bought at WalMart, fit it neatly and symmetrically around both mirrors. The F1 gives me great protection while...

    Leftovers

Found them! Missing torx fasteners went to inside of front scooped-for-foglights panels and inside of right lower side panel.

    Leftovers

Ground effects Thanks for the sympathetic responses, went riding with friends today with spare screws in pocket and noting came off. Regrounding coil to radiator and frame seems to have a positive effect on engine manage for some strange reason, the engine seemed to run a little better and I...

    Leftovers

Have three #30 torx screws left over after sweaty fly-annoyed session with Spyder in garage. Goal was to install recommended coil ground wires, stripped off a bunch of body panels using handy little B&D rechargeable screw gun until I could see grounding point on frame around steering post...

Buying soon: What do I need to know?

Keep a stiff front end Getting used to the handling is the biggest challenge of Spyder ownership, not so big a deal for those with ATV or sidecar experience. No matter what size you are, adjust front shocks to maximum preload; this will decrease the amount of "tippiness" you will feel in turns...

    ISCI handbrake....better news

Complete prefab kits cost more $1400 is a bit spendy, but not so bad when you consider the quality of the components and the fact that it is completely prefabricated so you don't have to drill, weld or engineer anything. It's like the difference between a prefab home and a built-from-scratch...

    Idle weirdness and solution

Don't know if this issue has been posted before, but I've noticed that if I restart my '09 SE5 while it's still two or three bars hot after a half-hour stop-n-shop in 80-plus degree weather and don't let it idle a bit before driving off, the engine idles high and doesn't rev down as quickly as...

ISCI Hand Brake- you guys are going to love this

My dealer said he is up to the task, and told me that many potential buyers had inquired about it.

CANBus (Confused And Nullified By Unknown Systems)

I've noticed a lot of electronic woes have been experienced by Spyder owners who have added electronic devices, whether BRP or other aftermarket, to their bikes. CANBus systems have been in use in high-end German cars for over 30 years. They are basically set up so that components communicate...

    Passenger observations

Went to town last night for dinner with wife on Spyder. She drove the twisty ten mile route and I rode pillion. Chris is an experienced biker with more than 100,000 miles of motorcycling experience, has owned a Honda Rebel, 535 Virago, two Sporties and a Ninja, has ridden all my bikes and...

    GIVI Topcase installed

You did a fine job, neater than another install I saw which had cut the plastic GIVI base. I opted for the much cheaper GIVI rack, $126 from Twisted Throttle, very sturdy but had to be ground and filed before tail cone would fit, Also, GIVI rack included template for drilling and Dremeling holes...

    Dzus fasteners???

Electric screwdriver I use a cheapo rechargeable battery-operated screwdriver and a #30 torx bit. Zips off panels in no time. Dzus fasteners make mischief by strangers too easy.

How fast can Spyder really take a curve? Fess up.

Faster than a cruiser, a sportbike not so much Rider skill and guts are huge factors. But do the math: A heavy cruiser with limited ground clearance and power will not do turns as well as a vehicle which has no ground clearance issues and is lighter and more powerful, giving it better braking...

    Spyder spider

Not much on chrome or tasteless nonfunctional decorations on my rides, I actually have a tendency to remove decals, logos etc. But I could not resist adding this bug which came with a set of leather bags I bought years ago. This is one bug I'm not gonna work out!

    Should I Buy a Spyder

Internet owners' groups can show you the worst Don't know if you have participated with other Internet owners' groups, but if you have you may recall reading of a disproportionate number of issues which do not appear as often as implied on the Internet. Example: The Vulcan Rider Owners' Club...

power commander is looking for volunteer spyder in vegas area

These are great guys to deal with. Years ago I volunteered my Nomad as a control for their development process. Got a free Power Commander out of the deal, which definitely worked as advertised. My Nomad had a carburetor (remember those things?) and I'm sure a PC for the Spyder would tie into...

Okay, Who'd pay to get rid of the 'Read Card' Message?

It's an sunshade, too! The card serves another purpose. Pull it out to shade your instruments when it's really sunny and you will prevent the heat distortion and bubbling that some have complained about.

Backseat driver with monkey hanging off

My wife, an experienced biker with over 100,000 miles on two wheels under her belt, has taken an active role in our Spyder rides together. She's hanging off in the direction of the turn in an effort to be more helpful. Trouble is, I really don't know where and when she hangs off. So all this...
