• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Rear tire mileage

2014 5400 miles. Just got back from the smokey mountains. 2120 miles in 7 days and no interstates. Rear tire is now junk. Darn twisties. Darn torque. Darn fun. Anybody know of a dual compound tire that will fit? I am looking at the Kumo right now.

Spark Plugs - do you use anti-seize?

Aluminum alloy and spark plugs.... not a question of getting the plug out of the head. The trouble is getting the heat out of the plug and into the aluminum that holds it. Aluminum conveys heat very well, thats the reason it is used for heat sinks and radiators. So we have a very hot spark plug...

    Cruise Control

New 2014 and mine dont work either. Tech said bad switch assembly on the handlebar. Waiting on a new one. The run/stop switch is touchy also. I think I could look at it hard and the bike quits running.

    First Mod.....Windshield or Swaybar

The swaybar is a must have but the wind buffeting is all stock windshield. I bought the touring windshield for my 2010 and not only did it get rid of the buffeting but increased my gas milage. All the way up and it protects from rain, all the way down and I dont have to look through it to ride...

    14' Belt Adjustment

I had problems on my 2010 after a dealer rear tire change. By the time I noticed it I was 600 miles from home, belt squeaking against the rear flange and rubber collecting inside the wheel. The steering was actually off so much I had to push a lttle left to go straight. Even popped a DPS error...

How do you set up for a turn on a sm6?

BajaRon bar and Elkas... carry the inside front wheel 6 inches off the ground... rear tire chirps a little... no nanny? Yup, the 14 really does corner better than my 10 did.

Question about wiring LED's for front that are keyed

I found the weathertight oem plug and socket that is used on the fender lights on Amazon for a few dolllars (bought them in bulk so they were really cheap). They came with 6 inch pig tails so I tied them back to back and ran a set of leads up the a arm from the fender connector to the area under...

    2014 RT Panels

AH Dealers.... they have as hard a time finding good help as any other business. Mine put a comfort seat backrest on a stock seat and insisted the huge wrinkles in the seat material behind it would eventually smooth itself out. Then the tech told me it was correct and I would have to call BRP...

    2014 RT Rider's Backrest Question

6' flat out, stock seat and backrest. Very comfortable for me. My only complaint is the thickness cuts down available space behind it for my wife to put her stuff bag. The backrest I added to my 2010 had a purse kinda bag velcroed to the backside. She misses the huge amount of stuff that thing...

    Come On BRP...Really

Lets see, worn out in the middle and not on the edges.... hey, how about dual compound tires? Harder compound in the middle and softer on the edges helps with cornering. Oh wait, I have those on my 2 wheeler. Never mind. Lets step up BRP.... we have the technology.

    2014 RT issue

Highway miles seems to trash the center of the rear tire quickly. 8000 miles was about the best I could get on my 2010rt, and I prefer back roads even if the highway gets me there twice as fast. I played with tire pressure and didn't get any better or noticable results. Guess we have to accept...

    Another 2014 Triple Impression

I have the touring windshield, first on my 2010 RT and now on my 2014. I am barely 6 ft tall and look over the shield completely when it is all the way down. It still goes high enough that rain won't bother me, so the best of both worlds. Rather than cut your windshield down, try removing it...

    What octane is everybody using

I usually go to Sunoco in Canal. I put 87 in my lawnmower, never in the Spyder. 93 or 94 if I can find it. Rode to Maine last summer and could not find any station with more than 91. And ended up with a fouled plug on my 2010. I think the second throttle body was crapping out too. Hope the 14...

    drum roll please......... how????

What he said... I have both. The BUSA is for quick rides around the state. Emphasize quick. The Spyder is for my wife and I to see the scenery. Can't see any on the BUSA. Don't want to...

    I was the first....

My first test ride on the 2014 was from the dealership to my garage. I left them mine so I get to keep this one, right?

    Looking at 2014 RT-S Spyder

I prefer manual myself. Having ridden motorcycles for at least 200,000 miles I tried to do the electric thing but it doesn't feel right. Now handling? When you go into a corner on the trike all of the weight is shifting to the front single wheel , as you brake. Now start the turn and the body...

    Removing Dead Battery

What kind of dead-headed engineer makes you dismantle half of the spyder just to replace the battery that may last 4 years, at the most? Oh, wait, the new bikes have the battery in the front. Never mind.... Now it sounds like a great marketing ploy. Trade it in on a new one and new change...

    Skid plate

Had a 2010 rt and was forced to straddle a dead ground hog. The bump skid would have saved my body work. Put one on right after that. The Spyderpops version protects those cute little winglets too. I put one on my 2014 as soon as I bought it. And yes the 14 is lower, and the 14 skid plate has a...

1330 Performance in the heat and traffic

Roll up traffic. I get off and stretch my legs and tug it along with me. No heat problems, and saves on emissions, green house gas stuff. Now if you are going uphill, well thats what your passenger is there for.

    Head Light Question

I got one for you. Had been following a car for a few miles at night. It had been going slower as we drove along. Finally the road widened to four lanes and I got stopped at a light beside the car. The driver rolled down her window and thanked me for not being a UFO. She was all giddy and...
