• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Does this Ultra Plus Full Synthetic 10W40 oil work for our Spyders?

Yeah, they package it differently for Canada than the U.S. I suppose for my next oil change I'll buy two one-gallon jugs, then for the next three changes just buy one jug.

The Rotella T6 1 quart bottles seem to be unobtanium.

You can buy a 6 pack of 0.25 gallons/1 quart/946 ml on Amazon. Go to the Shell Rotella Store and select the size from See Options. It's $63.99 from AHAM Oil Products LLC under See All Buying Options.

Synthetic blends are almost always 90% standard mineral oil with 10% non-true synthetic (mineral oil with an additive package). It's more marketing and profit margin for the seller than it is a valuable upgrade for the user.

I compare it to getting a bottled drink that is 90% tap water and 10% spring water. Are you really upgrading the tap water that much? But the bottom line is, yes it will work as long as it meets the stipulated requirements (wet clutch, etc.)

I finally found 1 quart bottles of Rotella T6 5W-40 at a NAPA auto parts store. Until Rotella starts packaging their oil in 5 quart containers, the 1 quart bottles should be more readily available. I don't right off hand know of any motor that requires only 4 quarts with filter change. Mobile 1 has wised up maybe Rotella (Shell) will too.

I suspect Shell's primary market for T6 Rotella is large diesel engines in fleet vehicles where having left over oil quantities doesn't matter as they are servicing many vehicles at a time. I suspect many of shell's customers buy the oil by the barrel as they use so much of it.

A six pack of 1 qt bottles is probably not an issue either, as anyone buying it online for a home oil change is probably the person for whom having a qt or two left over won't matter as they'll be needing them for the next oil change anyway. Most purchasers will be car or truck customers who may need 5 or 6 qts.

I'm glad NAPA stocks it in individual qts. That's helpful for bike owners.

I've never seen the 1 quart or 1 liter bottles here either, I'll have 3.9 liters left from the pail eventually.
Rotella quarts are available from Shell Lubricants but very few retailers stock them. We do at our shop but mostly for customers that want to carry a spare quart on board.

While on the subject, are others also seeing the shortage of available Rotella at the moment due to the Iran war issues? Most major retailers are showing out of stock and ordering direct from Shell Lubricants has taken a 50% increase in cost with quantities severely limited. At least in the Houston area.

Do you buy your 1 qt bottles as six packs from your supplier and then retail them as single bottles, or do you just order them as a count of separate bottles?
