Hello. Does anyone know anything about the rumor that in 2027 there will be an engine change to a new 1600 with more hp?

There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.
Has anyone heard any rumors about a new 1600 engine for 2027 Spyders?

I highly doubt it, they have the 1330 de-tuned to the point it comes in with less HP and torque than other engines of comparable size, when it is capable of much more. Why configure a Spyder with a bigger engine if they are just going to tame it down, like they have already done.

Anything like a 1600 cc would have to be a major redesign. Although the belts have improved a lot since they first came out, a belt probably would not handle that kind of power. It would require complete rear end redesign to use a shaft drive. It might even come out with dual rear drive wheels, close set. Nothing the Can Am engineering department does surprises me anymore. More than likely it is just a rumor, and I would not buy the first couple years of any major redesign anyway. Might consider 3rd year after release if they got most of the bugs out. There might be a market for something like that, but not as all out power, more likely it would be geared for towing to handle heavier trailers.

Since installing the BRP Connect 4.1 software update to my Spyder in July 2025, Apple CarPlay has worked very well for me, other than a few hours when I was in a narrow valley in North Carolina where there was no cell phone service.

People do crazy things! Not to mention that all radial engines have an odd number of cylinders.
I'm having trouble trying to picture in my mind's eye the tupperware it'd take to cover THAT!! ^
Just imagine the wall of air IT would hafta push outta the way to do any reasonable speed!

You're right. And I misspoke. What I should have said, as you point out, is that all radial engines have odd cylinder numbers Per Bank. Y'all are living in the past with large, heavy, not very efficient power sources. Wake up and dream of a gas turbine compressor engine geared to an output shaft. Huge power, compact size, more fuel efficiency, and almost unlimited red line speeds. It would be the same as comparing an old pre-ww2 fighter plane to the latest compact gas turbine helicopters.
