• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Why should the CO be held accountable. He or she didn't fire the blanks, did they?

The person IN CHARGE is in charge, right? With whom does the buck stop?

Crap rolls down hill, start at the top and let it roll!

Heads will roll all up and down the chain of command over this, no doubt!

It would be nice to know more about the situation. Was this before the mock event? They might have been testing their weapons to be sure they worked.

Still, that should have been done elsewhere. Not with a bunch of civilians all around. Military get used to weapons and they knew they were firing blanks. But no matter how you cut it, it was a bonehead move. Nor do I get the beer part of this report.

My guess is that the CO is getting his bottom spanked. Just because it wasn't reported, doesn't mean it isn't happening.

It's best to take these news reports with a grain of sand. Bias is common, and we know how the news media treats the military. They tend to tell you what they want you to know. Not necessarily enough to come to the right conclusion.

As the story states, this happened after the mock drills.

Are not all drills mock drills? If it were a real situation, then it would not be a drill.

The story is not complete and may not even be close to the truth. The only reason I can think of to be firing blanks around the public would be a Memorial day or Veterans Day event which included an official 21 gun salute, or possible a veteran's funeral with a 21 gun salute. In those events the rifle team is trained and fires into the air only on command.

The media cannot ever be accused of reporting the actual truth. For soldiers from a supposedly elite Ranger batallion to do this is just irresponsible, but for the soldiers to also be Instructors, ie the best of the best is very disturbing.

There must be more to this than meets the eye....
