• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I am now Spyderless

Unfortunately, the time has come. I am not riding enough (for a variety of reasons) to justify keeping the RT. It is a sad day after some 50+ years of riding (11 of which was on Spyders), but it had to be done. One of the major reasons is that the state of the roads on the mid north coast have been allowed to deteriorate to such an extent that even with my Ikon shocks and higher profile tyres the backroad riding is “painful”, both physically and mentally. The freeways are the only roads with an acceptable surface, and they aren’t much fun after an hour or so.

Thanks to all those on here who made my F3/RT Spyder life easier through your problem solving, tips and tricks and humour. It was very much appreciated.

I have kept my helmet, Kevlar pants, jacket and rain gear, just in case👍. After all, good 6XL/tall jackets, 38” inleg pants and associated rain gear are pretty hard to come by.

Have a beer for me next time you pull over for a lunch break. I’ll be thinking of you……jealously 😆😆😆

Bleedin' 'eck Pete!! 😖 What're we gonna do without you amongst the Spyder Ryding Community here & in Oz! Duz'n matta where, it'll be a fair bit smaller without you!

I do hope that you're not going to be a stranger here, even if you do hafta get your Spyder Riding kicks in thru reading other member's ride reports! ;)

Man oh Man, life's journey has made a little bit of time for you to enjoy some different things. I have been involved with life a little different do to health problems.
Keep looking Up.
Have a Blessed Day. (y)

It's too bad to hear that you can't come up with a way to get around the issues that are holding you back from doing the things you love!! Hang around from time to time and help us through our dilemmas!!

Dang it Man! Sorry to hear, but I totally understand your situation. As Clint Eastwood would say "a man's got to know his limitations"!
Hopefully you can find a hobby or maybe another thrill machine with 4 wheels and a comfy cockpit.

Time and life marches onward. We appreciate your insight, and humor (even though some Yanks take longer than others to "get it"). It's a good thing to keep that hard-to-find gear: one never knows when the urge may exceed the pain to get back on!

BTW, from what I understand, you're never "Spiderless" is Oz.

My riding gear is still in the closet... just in case! It's been nearly 4 years now since my Spyder left the driveway with its new owner. But, I still find it enjoyable and rewarding to stay in touch with my Spyder friends on this wonderful site. Sincerely hope you do the same. Cheers.... Jim

Unfortunately for you all, I plan on doing exactly as you and AR have done, Jim. I’ll pop up from time to time if I think I can help someone out, or maybe just to “take the piss” out of Americans simply for the hell of it. 😉😆😆😆😆

This is a great group of people, with one or two exceptions (but I won’t mention Peter Aawen by name... oooops, did I actually write that?…only joking Peter... you are one of the absolute best👍)

Am slowly coming to the same point in my riding career. Ain't it a b...ch ??
Yeah, it’s a combination, OldAge. We are moving 500kms to a new town (downsizing), and it only has a 2 car garage (no room for a Spyder). I have lost a bit of interest in riding as none of my close riding group of 3 are riding much any more, and the poor roads make riding less enjoyable solo. It is not so much pure “old age”, as that plays a big part, as my new knees work well. That’s why I kept my gear. It is just a combination of things that told me the time was right.

I know the time is right, but I did have a “few” cold beers last night 😢😢

Salute,

Pete, all the best to you! Sorry to hear but understandable. At least now I've learned that rough roads are not the exclusive property of California!
