• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Almost torched the bike! Huge leak in upper right side.

hose clamps recommend using worm clamps designed for fuel injection connections, the clamp's strap wraps in the inside allowing for even pressure. major advantage is that you can tighten as the rubber of the hose shrinks with age. i replace all oetikers at the first sign of seapege. easy check...

    brake sensor adjustment

brake pedal switch there is a microswitch at the pedal/master cylinder and a brake pressure switch in the abs/stability module. recommend not messing with either. if the spyder is in neutral, no brake pressure is needed to start engine. try and see if the problem occurs in neutral, if yes i...

    engine overheating

overheating absolutely overheating, fan on but noted air flow not very hot. likely due to poor coolant flow between engine and radiator. if you notice a different pattern to your temp gauge reading, have the water pump impeller inspected or do it yourself, very easy/inexpensive.

    engine overheating

2008 se5, 50k miles . symptom: engine heats up to 6 or 7 bars on hard accellerations, worse in hot weather. tried everything to no avail. solution: replaced water pump impeller and housing, $65. easy to inspect and replace. the plastic impeller is molded to a brass nut mounting it onto the drive...

    Parking brake

park brake the park brake needs adjustment regularly because the rear brake caliper doesn't self adjust to brake pads wear. if you need adjustment very often, are you releasing the brake fully? is the rear rim black coated in a short trip? don't adjust too tight, bike should hold solid in three...

    And the fuel still drips....

fuel smell/condensation drips two simple/free actions that will help: when filling tank, pull back on nozzle accordion rubber tube to vent to atmosphere ( filling stations force tank venting thru the canister during refilling saturating it ). 2) just before shutting engine off, check if the...

    Parasitic drain?

battery discharge don't know what is the battery draw with ignition off, but i just had the spyder head off doing things and noticed the lowest connector mounted on chassy just ahead of handle bars looked green at joint, took it apart and pins were corroded, no damage. was able to clean and...

    Idle RPM

if the spk plug wires are the problem, why is the engine running fine over 2k rpm?... i would suspect the evap purge valve, r/s of engine rearward of the air cleaner.

    Purge Valve Update

purge valve pinch or plug the vacuum hose from intake to the valve when the problem is there. if it goes away, replace the valve. common problem, i ended up relocating valve in front of the air cleaner to keep it cool. 3 valves in 40k miles...

Did you get your DPS done yet?

dps done. different, too much assist at higher speeds but have adjusted to it. less effort in challenging roads. either way, it had to be done as it's safety related and rider is liable if in an accident...

    Opinions on this Sprocket

belt adjustment when the rear wheel bolt is tightened during adjustment it will tend to move forward on the right side. suggest using a lead hammer or plastic mallet and strike the right bolt end rearward as you gradually tighten. you'll know it's ok if the right tensioner end cap is tight on...

Guess who needs a new front sprocket?

14mm shank don't remember thread pitch but the damaged hole was just the right size for the new thread after the original bolt stripped the shaft hole. imho, it's a bad idea to retighten a bolt fittted with thread locking. techically, the bolt should be removed, threads chased with tap and die...

Guess who needs a new front sprocket?

front sprocket same happened to my machine, first sprocket splines damaged by loose bolt. second sprocket lost on freeway speeds. the se5 constantly goes on a accell/decell snap to front sprocket during the throttle blip downshifts. threads in the output shaft damaged by loss of bolt... enough...
