• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Saw some unfriendly Spyder Riders!

I think that possibly a lot of newer Spyder riders came straight from non-riding, and never had the 2-wheeled experience, so they don't know about "the wave." In my own experience, whenever I have passed another Spyder on the road, both of us tend to do the "goofy wave" -- all but standing up...

Video How To: How to control your iPod/iPhone

Thank you! Skipping forward/back is all I typically want to do if/when I'm listening to music while traveling.

    Silly Question - Spirit Bell?

I don't know that I ever thought about it being a mistake to keep a bell. I can't think why it would be. I think the original intent remains, whatever bike the bell happens to be on. I was usually so excited about getting a new bike that I never thought about retaining the old bell. After the...

    I betcha!

I like HP and torque as much as the next person, but I've never felt the 998 is underpowered. So I guess I don't really care what size motor the thing has. I *would* however LOVE to see an AWD version with all-season tires. If it had A/C, too, I'd be able to get rid of my truck. :roflblack:

    Silly Question - Spirit Bell?

About a week after I got the new (to me) RT, I had a discussion on a Sunday afternoon with a local friend about needing a ride bell. All my prior rides have had them, and so as not to disturb the good karma, I always left them in place when I sold or traded them. But it was Sunday, all the local...

Video How To: How to control your iPod/iPhone

Another dumb music-related question: I've done searches here for "Android" and have yet to find anything that makes sense to me as far as whether or not you can operate an MP3 device other than a branded iPod/iPhone (i.e., an Android phone) through the dash controls via the hard wire in the...

    Full or Half Cover?

I got the Nelson-Rigg half cover I ordered, and I think it's going to be perfect for what I need it for. Pros: It folds up small enough to fit in one of the sidecase lid recesses (my RT came with the Hopnel cargo nets already installed - handy). It takes a minute or two, tops, to put it on...

    Full or Half Cover?

Mine came with a BRP full cover, and I am highly impressed with the quality. It is a bit much, however, for daily use. I contemplate that it will end up being used primarily for long-term winter storage. It takes at least 10 minutes to put it on, and at least 5 to take it off. It also takes up...

Another heat issue recall success story!

Not that I've had mine long enough for the heat issue to become overly daunting, but, oh, what a difference there is! Immediately I noticed the torque band is much broader. Feels a lot quicker all the way through the gears from 0-65. The shifting is noticeably smoother, too. Took it for about a...

    BUGS

I keep a can of Plexus and a microfiber cleaning cloth on board, mostly so that I can clean my windshield/faceshield if bug splats/dirt begin to reduce my visibility. However, it's a remarkably effective cleaner for the bodywork, as well, so it also comes in handy to remove big nasty bug/road...

    2013 Recall Pictures

Thanks for posting the photos! I'm about to have the recall work done on mine, and I've been wondering what the changes looked like. I like the way it looks -- probably better than the OEM look, to be honest.

    SPYDER LOVER BUT

Heh. Yeah, that was disconcerting me at first, but then I made a game out of it. Adds back in some of the minor amount of excitement I lost going from 2 wheels to 3. ;)

A MAP HOLDER THAT REALLY WORKS

I had one of those for my RS, and it was great. Unfortunately, it's made for the RS, so it doesn't fit on the RT-S. Hence my longing for one of the Hopnel pouches that I posted. Good luck to you in your quest, in any case. I also like having the paper maps, myself. Then I can just use my...
