• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    92 MPG's!!!!

Maybe a Spyder Hybrid?? I wonder if the Spyder is a perfect candidate for hybrid technology using an electric motor/generator coupled to a gasoline engine. With compact lithium batteries hidden in the trunk it might be possible to get at least 50% better gas mileage in the 50 to 55mpg range...

RT engine vs Gold Wing engine

Demo vs. Ownership I hardly qualify here as I haven't yet owned either machine. I do however like to demo ride different bikes/trikes to get an idea what I want to have for my next ride. I am 56 years of age and backing out onto my gravel driveway gets more difficult each year. Ditto for...

RT engine vs Gold Wing engine

Apples/Oranges, Wings & Spyders I guess being these machines are totally different in every way, the only thing they have in common is three wheels. Perhaps it was unfair to demo a nearly three year old unsold trike conversion, but at the time I though it was pretty nice of that Honda dealer...

RT engine vs Gold Wing engine

I've demoed both, sort-of. Last year I demoed an SM5 Spyder and about six weeks ago demoed a new unsold 2007 GL1800 Goldwing with a Roadsmith Trike conversion on it. This unit was still priced at $29,999 and it had the lateral g-forces similar to the Spyder to contend with. It had an...

    Michigan Helmet Rights Ride

I wear a Helmet but support free choice I always wear a helmet. In fact one saved my life back in 2001. If other bikers don't want them, I'm ok with that. 90% of the time it is some jerk with four wheels under his/her butt that kills a biker. They are forced to wear seatbelts and pay for...

Hearing is one Thing, Seeing Another

Luck was with them They were lucky. It could have been a lot worse. Since I wasn't a witness, I can't really say if anybody was following too close or going a little too fast. Those are things we have to use our own judgement for each and every time we ride. I'm glad it turned out to be...

    New Spyder home finally!!!

Nice Spyder you got there!! I really like the Givi set-up. It makes the Spyder into a touring rig. It definitely needs a bigger windshield or a fairing for distance riding though.

looking for a job with disabled..

Therapist perhaps? My youngest daughter went to the University of Findlay in Ohio where she completed her masters degree in Occupational Therapy in five years of college. She now works for a city school district as an Occupational Therapist and part-time on weekends in a hospital. She gets to...

    BACKREST?

Butt Buffer There's a less known product out there (made in Pennsylvania) called the Butt Buffer, a gell pad with straps to keep it on your seat. They can be ordered plain or with embriodery on them (mine has the POW/MIA logo on it) or you can have them install the gel pad into your stock...

Nice ride with my son yesterday

Thanks for sharing your story & video. I served in the Navy during the latter part of The Vietnam War and now belong to the American Legion and am an American Legion Rider as well as belong to the Patriot Guard. I too have a son, but he severely shattered his right lower leg in an accident...

    Questions before I would buy.

Thanks Don! Just got the paper, one of my kid brother's high school classmates was killed on his Harley this past weekend. Kind of makes me want the Spyder even more, maybe I'd last longer out there on one. Who knows? At age 56 I'm not ready to quit riding yet, not by a longshot. Whenever this...

    gas milage

Three wheel mpg vs. two wheel I don't think the Spyder gets bad gas mileage for a trike. My 2007 Roadliner only gets about 40 mpg most of the time. Yes it has an 1885cc motor, which can get very thirsty if I hamfist the throttle a lot ( low 30's). I have also gotten high 40's (47-48) on...

    Questions before I would buy.

Thanks all, Just went to dealer yesterday. I had some group rides & events to post on my dealer's bulletin board, so I rode the Roadliner over (only 15 miles away). Right inside the door sat three new Spyders (one silver, one black, and a red one) and I immediately gravitated to the red one...

    Questions before I would buy.

The reverse gear would be great! I had a Royal star Venture back in 03-04 and I can attest it was almost impossible to back or manuever it. My Roadliner is nearly 100# lighter but still no lightweight to leg paddle around. I got a small taste of the Spyder last fall on the demo ride, and I...

    Questions before I would buy.

Researching nearly done. I think learning about a new vehicle before purchasing has become a necessity considering the cost these days. The idea of going back into debt to pay for it is daunting enough, but the joy of riding will outweigh that. It has been that way with every new vehicle for...
