• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Garage door opener

Clip it on If you have the belt/visor clip on your remote, just clip it to the edge of the dash, right over where the warning card slides out. The button will be accessible even wit heavy gloves and the remote is protected from the elements by the windshield.

    hand brake survey

Handbrake a great improvement I installed the ISCI handbrake last year. The handbrake allows the rider to apply extra pressure to the slave cylinders, which improves braking power noticeably (at least in my case -- I considered the stock brake with only a foot pedal to be kinda lame). Using the...

    Another Sad Confession...

Guzzis are decent bikes. Unfortunately, Moto Guzzi of North America will not give you the level of support that BRP did in the event that something does go wrong. I had issues with the hydraulic lifters in my '03 Stone Touring that took three months for the dealer to repair what was my main form...

    I agree with Lamont

Negativity vs. reality I've participated in various bike-related sites since Internet service was available to me, VROC, Victory, W650, ZRX, Guzzi, KLR650, Buell, Ninja 650, sidecar, Silver Wing and I'm sure others that I forgot. There's ALWAYS a number of negative threads on any of these sites...

    I created a monster.

My wife has more than 100,000 miles on 2-wheelers, sold her Ninja last year when she freaked out over my sidecar accident. She feels a lot safer on the Spyder, enjoys driving it, and I rather like riding behind her, especially since I installed the BRP ergonomic passenger pegs. I can ride and...

Took My 1st Test Ride Today

Tranny preference depends on use and ryder's condition If you think you'll be doing a lot of stop-and-go, get the auto clutch. Or if you have left hand or left foot issues, or are not used to shifting a bike, the clutchless setup is preferable. Also, if you have a significant other or wife as I...

    Why No Hand Brake?

Handbrake improves braking The brakes on my own '09 SE5 are somewhat underwhelming, as I have stated in other posts. Braking was improved after bleeding brake system, further improved by roughing up front pads, which were somewhat glazed. Part of the problem is the amount of pressure needed on...

    Needs bigger engine, taller gears

Since the RT is more than 200 lbs heavier than the RS, a larger engine would be in order. The Buell version of the Rotax vee twin proves that it can be stretched to 1125 cc's, and the added power would allow taller gearing than the current 28/79 setup which runs the engine at 4400 rpm at 60 mph...

Finally, I got a brake! (Thank you, ISCI)

I've had several issues with my OEM brakes not being up to snuff. The tech at the dealership bled my brakes and hooked up to computer's BUDDS program as per shop manual as I watched. When it came time to measure braking pressure I had to STAND on brake pedal to bring all my 160 pounds to bear on...

Any Feed Back on the ISCI Hand Brake

ISCI Handbrake improves braking overall Had several issues with OEM brakes not being up to snuff. Tech at dealership bled brakes and hooked up to computer as per shop manual as I watched. When it came time to measure braking pressure at master cylinder I had to STAND on brake pedal to bring all...

    Lost my best friend

Grieving the loss of a great dog takes time. While there's no substitute for such a mutt (which you could swear had the soul of a very old human, don't get me started on reincarnation) I've found the best solution is to distract yourself by taking on a pain-in-the-butt puppy which will amuse you...

    Dealer Recall Surging Suggestion

Simple way of settling it A simple way of checking out post-reflash octane requirements would be to try a test tankful of premium gas. That would be considered anecdotal evidence. My '09 SE5 (Hindle, Evoluzione air filter, O2 Eliminator) also surges and sputters following upgrade...

    Gimme a brake!

I've been disappointed with my 2009 SE5's brakes since day one. To call them mediocre is way overstating their stopping power, especially when l consider those mega-brake calipers and disks, relatively light weight and huge tire contact area. But this being the only Spyder I've ever ridden...
