• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Wiring to key on only

If you use any of the switched wires near the battery, use a relay and a separate, fused power source to supply your add-on. Also, don't be fooled by the timer on some of these wires. They may stay on for a while after the key is switched off. This is normal. On a side note- Do NOT poke a wire...

    handle bar removal RTS 2012

Umm...not quite so easy. The black plastic "beauty ring" under the bars will prevent you from getting to the clips that hold all the wiring in place. You will have to remove the headlight cowl, headlight adjuster cables from under the side service panels, and the headlights. After doing this...

    GPS Mounting option

Here is the way I mounted my GPS. It is the Nuvi665, but any Garmin that uses the motorcycle mount will work. I only had to buy a couple of fender washers to do this. I removed the "dummy" card, and bolted the mount to the underside of the dash. Clean and easy. Sorry I didn't take pics along...

    Baja Ron Swaybar tip

If you are contemplating buying the BajaRon Swaybar, here is a ltttle install tip. Follow the instructions that come with the bar. They are well-written, and easy to follow. The most critical part is making sure the bar is centered. This has to be precise because the endlinks can break if they...

Okay; how does THIS piece come off?

For all the future farklers out there, I always abide by one simple rule. It is always better to ask for forgiveness than for permission. Think about it...

    Mean Nanny!

I have the Elkas as well. Stage 5. Still setting them up. I found that taking out 3 rounds of preload helped with ride quality and bump compliance in turns.

    Mean Nanny!

All I saw was a contrast adjustment. Will this help?

    Mean Nanny!

The other day the wife and I were ryding to a party, when I took a left hander a little hard. I leaned left and forward, and must have pulled a little "leelie" (left wheel up) when the Nanny totally smacked me! Now this is going to happen, I guess, but what makes me mad is that after shutting...

    Front Tire wear !

The condition you are describing is called bump steer. It can be corrected by altering the height of the outer tie rod end versus the inner tie rod end. Inner rib wear is caused by too much negative camber. Raising the ride height will help this, but may also affect and worsen bump steer. Too...

Lowering the rear & headlight adjustment

It is a mechanical leveling adjustment.

    New Elka shocks

I bought the stage 5 fronts, and paid about $1800.00 shipped. I think the stage 1s start around $500.00 plus shipping.

    New Elka shocks

Farmboy, do you do this with you on the spyder? Should it be done loaded for two up if that is the way you ride most often? I called John at Elka, and he said that there was no need to set the "sag" on the spyder. I do feel the ride to be a bit "flinty" if you know what I mean.

    New Elka shocks

I too have to applaud the good folks at Elka. When I first got my RT-S, I felt that the handling was dicey and sometimes downright scary! The sensitivity to buffeting was terrible. The machine also exhibited a strange "double roll" when cornering. It felt that the machine would roll, then the...

    Different Take on Zumo Mount

Pic of Antenna I could not put the antenna pic in the last post, so here it is. Do you experts think this mounting will work? The Garmin manual says it can be covered by something as long as it is non-metallic . Also a longer shot of the wiring.

    Different Take on Zumo Mount

I wanted to mount my Zumo 665 (an early birthday present from my lovely wife ) up high, but didn't want it on top of the dash so I did this-- The Zumo sits a little low, but as I am only 5'10", it barely blocks the very top icons on the info screen when I am seated. I also wired it...
