• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

UK Site for them . . shows full range / colours etc. http://theblackdouglas.com/ Dealer site . . lots of photos http://www.haywards.co.uk/black-douglas.html ALSO Check out the link on the dealer for MUTT motorcycles. These are Chinese imports that are then rebuilt with non-Chinese brakes...

    Poor gas mileage 2012 RTL

I use an app on the iPhone called "Gas Tracker" by Fuelly. It's free. I use it to track my milage/fuel on my PHEV (Petrol Hybrid Electric Vehicle). It shows an average of 42 MPG (UK Gallon) and the car is showing 70 MPG when combined with my electric use (21 miles per kWh). It is simple to...

    horn button

Lucas SPB160 Horn Button Switch for mounting on the dashboard. Rated at 5 amps on 12 volt systems. Size is 52mm x 32mm base 25mm deep. Would probably fit on the handle bar cover, or maybe, like on vintage cars for a dip switch, on the floorboard?? Here is a U.S. link to some alternative ideas...

    horn button

The one i linked to has a single button remote with a fairly big button you could reach/press with a glove on. You need a big button, not a fiddly one if you need the horn whilst riding. I bought three and all three are well made and work (under test). Jeff

    horn button

Interesting - I was reading a similar problem on a car website where the horn button was on the dash so was difficult to find in a hurry (just when you wanted it), so I suggested a £5 fix. You can buy a small circuit board with a remote push (like a door opener for the car). The switch stays...

Rear view camera and monitor mounted on Spyder

Same in the UK. Any moving picture must not be visible by the driver. All car radio displays that can show movies, for example, disable the multimedia screen other than when in ACC position. Jeff

Rear view camera and monitor mounted on Spyder

Bit late, but found this. If you have your phone mounted on the bike, then this camera will connect to the phone wirelessly, saves having another screen that has to be taken off / locked away / mounted / wired in etc etc. On eBay UK, but sells internationally. You could power it up only in...

    DESS Key code again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Certain Chinese site will sell a keygen for USD 50 - seems to be lots of sellers. Looks like you have to also send your serial number from the MPI-2 interface though. Not sure it is good idea as this gives a thief easy access to stealing Spyders and, in fact, any BRP product. 10 minutes, a...

    BRAKE FAILURE!!

It is because brake fluid is hygroscopic and readily absorbs water. A typical high performance DOT 4 fluid in a high humidityenvironment will absorb as much as 4.5-5.0% moisture in as short a period as 2 weeks ifnot kept in a tightly sealed container. Therefore, if you buy a bottle, make sure...

    Looking to buy - some advice please . . . .

Nice to hear from you! It's called "Sunny Hunny" but today the weather is terrible, thunder, lightning and rain, but still managed to walk along the sea front and get an ice cream (well, you have to, don't you?) Nothing much changes, as you noticed. Which is why we like it so much. Recognise...

Thanks for the advice, it certainly looks like this is a good explanation, and I have decided to let this one go. Like buses, another one will be along shortly.... Jeff

    Looking to buy - some advice please . . . .

Talk to strangers? Shudder. Actually, the locals will talk for hours, but as a seaside holiday place it is mostly filled with visitors and they are a strange lot, especially if they come from a city where everyone avoids contact. The real 4000 residents will happily chat. Midweek during the...

    CB problems - promising development!

Sorry if I am teaching you to suck eggs The coax length has to be a part of the frequency range, for CB the frequency is approx 11 metres so the coax should be half wave or full wave, so 17 ft equates to 5.182 metres, being half wave. Then you tune the antenna length after using an SWR meter...

    Looking to buy - some advice please . . . .

We are empty-nesters so the house in Cambridge is far too big now. We also have a 2 bed apartment in Hunstanton which is the only West facing town in Norfolk, so we get great sunsets over the sea. So, we are selling the house and looking for one in Hunstanton as we like the place so much...
