• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Travelling to NordKapp, Norway from Barcelona, Spain.

Along the Way Been to Nordkapp more than once -- winter and summer. To see Norway at its best, you should get over to the coast and make sure to see some of the great fjords. There is nothing like them. You really need to see them by boat. And the towns of Bergen, Alesund, Trondheim and...

    THIS LOOKS INTERESTING

I always use my trusty bicycle floor pump for all my motorcycle tires. Not the tiny portable kind you carry on a bicycle but a solid hand pump that stands on the floor. It has a hose and clamp just like that shown in the video. Works great. Even on the rear of the RT. As for lost air, you...

    Mobil 1 4T Analysis Part 2

Of course there is, but what fun would that be??? ;)

    BRAKE FAILURES

Now you've got me curious. Do you mean the clutch release rod that is down in the main clutch itself? No bearing on the end of that. There is a rod from the clutch lever pivot that pushes the piston in the master cylinder. I think (a guess on my part) that there is a self lubricating bearing...

    Mobil 1 4T Analysis Part 2

Agree with ulflyer -- the shear down is not a given. On my 1330, the Amsoil oil I tested at 4500 miles was 13.2 viscosity, still well within the 40-range of 12.6 - 16.3. I'd be really surprised if Mobil 1 was much different.

    BRAKE FAILURES

Any Results Yet Any results on your clutch and brake issues? As an SM-6 owner, I'm interested in your clutch leak. I had the pivot pins in the lever freeze up in just a few thousand miles. The whole M/C and lever assembly was replaced under warranty as it's not serviceable. Where is your...

    Gauges are wrong...HELP!

Right on Bob. I'm sure they'd know if they were going 70mph or 30mph as they stated. I've had the battery out of my 2011 RT and 2014 RT many times and it never reverts to metric. It comes back right where I had everything set -- suspension, radio settings, mph, etc.

    noisey clutch? sm5

Yep, but it's the transmission not the clutch. Classic "gear rattle" -- when the clutch is engaged in neutral, some of the shafts and gears are turning in the transmission; when the clutch lever is pulled (disengaged), nothing is turning. All manual transmissions (automotive and motorcycle)...

    oil test

Oil Analysis 2014 RT -- Amsoil Attached is the oil analysis report for my 2014 RT SM6 1330. Oil went 4500 miles; 8,400 miles on the bike. Amsoil 10/40 motorcycle oil. I am pleased that the viscosity is 13.18 cSt @ 100C, well within the range for a 40-weight which is 12.6 – 16.3. The TBN is...

    Trans Labrador Hwy

No Spyders but here are some things to read: http://www.tlhwy.com Here are just a few quotes from that website: "From a practical point of view, the highway consists of two parts as well: paved and gravel. And after traveling the entire route from Baie Comeau to Goose Bay and back on...

    Vee Rubber for the RT

3K on Arachnid Vee Rubber Just curious -- what took you back to the Kumho? I recall you thought your first Kumho hydroplaned too easily. I've got 3K on the latest Arachnid Vee Rubber 35004 on my 2014 RT. No complaints. The first 1500 mi were eight days largely on wet, twisty backroads in...

Anyone replaced LH switch housing on RTS?

The good news is they've upgraded the switch from the original. How many times have we complained about this problem? Hopefully this upgrade will work for longer than a few thousand miles like the original switches. 710002742 ($433.99) replaces 710002612 for the SM-5's. 710002741 ($244.99)...

    998 ENGINE HEAD GASKETS

:agree: Good excuse to have the valve clearance checked. My dealer automatically included new gaskets when he checked the valves. One question -- are they sure the gaskets are bad and it's not just a case of needing tightening? Some of the bolts are pretty hard to get to but might be worth...

    Learned something new

When I purchased my 2014 RT, I had my dealer install the switch kit. He on his own initiative found that the matching switch was available and included it at no charge to me. The part number he listed for the switch on my receipt is 710002353. It's available for $59.99. I wouldn't pay that...
