• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Heat deflector

You are in Arkansas in the summer time, what did you expect? :yikes: In hot climate, engine temps regularly fluctuate between 4-5 bars, depending on model and when the fan kicks on. You may hit 6 bars now and then... especially sitting in traffic. Not to worry. There are many threads on the...

    Heat in the Seat.....Ouch!

2 solutions: Beadrider, and Cool Ass seat cover. http://genuinecoolass.com/ http://www.beadrider.com/ Highly recommended from a place where 104 is considered "not too bad"

    Hot

Not horrible here... about 105. :yikes: Had to go downtown (about 15 miles), so rode the Spyder. Wore the chamois neck-kerchief and sleeves. Not bad for the 30 min ride. The Spyder did get a little warm though... hit 6 bars a couple times waiting at stoplights. Thinking about installing a...

    tie down help with trailer

It's the width that will get you. The GS is 60" wide. Most enclosed trailers' openings are less than that.

2009 Spyder The Dealer wants to buy back, interesting

 So... you talk to them yet? (Ina or 22nd St?) If they made a really good offer, I might be tempted. (That new BMW GS Adventure is calling me!)

    STONE GAURD/BONNET PROTECTOR

Well, the first thing is to quit calling the Frunk a "Bonnet" Nobody on this side of the ocean knows what you're talking about! We usually call them "bra's" ;) Actually, I couldn't find one either... but just a thought... Pete at Power Sports Wraps I'm certain could come up with a vinyl wrap...

How many Spyder riders still own 2 wheelers?

Still have a BMW 1150GS, no plan to sell it, like it too much. I prefer the Spyder for most of my in town riding (safety, visability and water cooling), like the Beemer for the twistys and long runs/higher speed, and occaisional dirt roads.

TO MY TEXAS FRIENDS AND THOSE TRAVELING TROUGH OUR GREAT STATE

Was through there last year, and the stretch from San Antonio to El Paso was running about 85+. Nice run... except for the 50mph side winds and driving rain! If anyone does take I-10 through there, gas stations are few and FAR between. Without my 3 gal aux tank, I would have been calling AAA...

Chasing some sport bikes down Mt Lemon.

Still closed for the winter, and as long as you have reasonable ground clearance, you can make it in a 2wd pickup or SUV. Only 4wd if it's been raining and/or some lingering snow. I've done it several times on my BMW GS (not your nimble off road machine by any measure), but wouldn't try it on...

Chasing some sport bikes down Mt Lemon.

Glad you enjoyed it. I've lived in Tucson for 30+ years and never tire of the Mt Lemmon ride. Sometimes on the Spyder, sometimes on the BMW, but always great. I don't try to keep up with anyone though. Way too easy to launch yourself into space. Generally about 45mph is comfortable... brisk...

    Did canisterectomy today....but!!

Check all the hose clamps on the fuel lines. The ones securing the fuel filter on mine were loose and gas was dripping everywhere. Also route the vent toward the rear of the bike. Early versions (like my PE ) had a very short vent, and the "fix", though it extended the hose to the bottom...

    Trailer

If you are hauling the trailer empty, it will sway. Hard to distribute a load when there is none... and the ramp definitely makes it tail heavy. I added an anti-sway damper to my setup and that eliminates the issue. Only $25 or so at Harbor Freight. (or throw a few 8x8x16's in the front)...

What size of of trailer do we need to haul a rs Cam Am Spyder?

Agreed. the Spyder is 60" across the front. You'd be scraping the sides (assuming your trailer has sides).
