• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Snowblower Clogs Up

I treated a patient once that tried to clear his snowblower without shutting the thing down first. We did the best we could but the hand was too mangled to save! My best suggestion is never, ever try to clear it while running. Doc

    Sidecar on a Spyder?

I've got a sidecar rig, handling is significantly different from 2 wheels or a trike. The steering is very different from a Spyder too. I'm not sure it would even be possible, as someone else mentioned. When I had my Goldwing, we had a level rack on the trunk that we put a dog kennel on, the dog...

The Secret to Enjoying Cold Weather Rides

When I was in Korea, my only transportation to and from work was my 883 HD. It was not unusual for the temperature to be in the sub-zero range, often -20 to -30, the good news was that I didn't have much more than 2-2 1/2 miles to get to the 121st EVAC Hospital, however, after I returned to the...

    Bagpipe Rock...who would have thought?

When I was in San Antonio for the basic medic course, we had a piper in our company, we'd march to the pipes everywhere. It was a great morale booster for the company. They didn't play AC/DC though, back in '72. Doc

    Don't run out of gas!

My uncle was supposed to go out on the Thresher that day. He was one of the supervisors on the build. He got up with a sinus infection that he felt might be affected by being in the sub when it was submerged. That was probably the best sinus infection he ever had. It was shortly after that the...

    MY HELMET MOD

I've got the same material on all my bikes, the stuff is tough as nails, shouldn't have a problem with the wife's head, unless she drives it into your head. Doc

All Gave Some, Some Gave All

http://www.youtube.com/embed/LemllfcAY8A If you remember what the title of this thread means, you may like this video. I did my medical training at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center when the more injured POW's were air evacuated from Vietnam. The injuries were many and varied. Fitzsimons was the...

    Kwik Kamp trailer

I've got a Kwik Kamp I bought for $1,000 that I pulled with my 08 Goldwing for 4,500 miles over 10 days. I was up and down hills in PA, and ME, across to IL and through KY. I actually got better fuel mpg, which I attributed to watching my hand on the throttle and staying under the speed limit or...

    PUT ON YOUR THINKING HATS

I'd like to see a dog carrier that can be hitch mounted so we can bring old Napoleon Bonyparts with us, our miniature standard/cross dachshund on our travels with us. It would have to be above the trunk so he can get the wind in his hair. We named him that when we got him we also rescued a...

    A Little Nippy....

My only transportation when I was in Korea was my 883 HD Sportster, luckily I only lived about 2-3 miles from the 121st Evac Hospital, and I really didn't have too much problem with the cold there, but, when I came back stateside, stationed with a MASH unit I lived about 45 miles from Ft. Riley...

    water bottle mod

Take a look at what the military uses for the troops, Camelbak makes an insulated hydration pack, they even have insulated tubing for them. Living here in SC, summers can get pretty warm, having had heat stroke and knowing a lot about dehydration, I'd highly recommend it. I have a fairly large...
