• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

CURIOUS - is the Clunk on shifting fm Neutral to First/Reverse Normal?

Absolutely. There's always "drag" between the plates in a wet clutch, when the the throwout pushes them apart, because of the oil film in there. Your dry clutch allows complete disconnect from the crank to the transmission, just like in most cars. Theoretically, my Spyder should crunch less...

CURIOUS - is the Clunk on shifting fm Neutral to First/Reverse Normal?

When in neutral, and the clutch is released, the crank is already hooked to the input shaft. Of course, when you throw the clutch again, most bikes won't (totally) stop the rotating force of the crank, some "drag" may be present. The force (rotating mass) that the crank has imparted to the input...

CURIOUS - is the Clunk on shifting fm Neutral to First/Reverse Normal?

The Spyder 5 speed is one of the best bike transmissions that I've ever used. And, for those bikes that have a reverse, the Spyder's is the best in the business. All the bike transmissions, as far as I know, have constant-mesh gears, these days, and they (usually) go from gear to gear very...

    Wishing

Well, just pick a 50-60 degree day, have your stuff packed, jump on your Spyder, and make haste for Cactus Cart RV Park, on Boca Chica Blvd., in Brownsville, Texas. You should be in a somewhat warmer place, come the first night and parked under the fruit trees on the second, maybe a day longer...

Off with the old.... on with the new!

That worn center seems to be "the nature of the beast" with the Kenda. Mine looked (nearly) like that when it still had mold nubs near the center! What's a new Kenda have, there in the center; less than an eighth-inch above the wear bars? I thought "over inflation", so I went down to ~22 psi...

Has anyone given their Spyder a "Name"???

Right on! At the start of some rydes, I've called mine "Honey". At the end of some rydes (sometimes, during) the name has "evolved" into something less complementary. More often than not, I've used some "ess's", some "ohh's", and some "bee's".:roflblack: All in good fun. Have to admit, and...

Oh, my word! Just noticed all my PM's!

Been a while since I've watched a tractor pull video, too. Always impressed with what can be done with a hot diesel. Truth is, I don't like watching the one's that blow up. Hate to see good machinery destroyed. Nice to see one that has some hope of surviving yet another pull. Thanks for the...

    Front Tire Choices?

My question is: Does Kumho make the right size for the front? I really like my new rear Kumho, and wouldn't mind matching it up on the front. I have the original Kenda's on the front, and they're 8 years old! No checking going on, and about half tread left, with 14,000 miles, but I want new...

Oh, my word! Just noticed all my PM's!

Yes. Bob, it's there, and that's exactly what happened last night. I just hadn't been on SL's in so long that the other alerts must have come and gone while I was away. I spend a good deal of time on my regular e-mail, and on "The Diesel Page", which cuts into my Spyder Lovers time. Have to...

Oh, my word! Just noticed all my PM's!

Just got an alert that I had a PM from a fellow Vermont Spyder ryder. Went over there and replied. Happened to scroll down a bit, and got a look at a long list of PM's, some of which have been on here for a couple of years. Sorry, if I've given anyone on SL's the impression that I don't want...

    Some questions, considering a Spyder

Dang, this's a good thread, Jen. Just got on here, after not signing in for a couple of months. Just want to add my $.02. I'm 76 and have had my 08 RS since 010. It's been love/hate since the day I got it home (a 5-6 mile test ryde won't tell you what you need to know for buying any...

Why does the site tell me this?

Naw. That's just my name for this infernal contraption. Well, it actually pukes on me, from time to time.

Why does the site tell me this?

Nope, turns out it's cuzz I hit the back arrow to go back to the next thread I wanted to read, instead of going down to the bottom right, and clicking on Go. I've always used the back arrow on The Diesel Page to page back, but that just seems to pickle the "duplicate post" response in SL's...

Why does the site tell me this?

I just posted on this forum, and I got a message that "This is a repeat of a duplicate post, etc", even as I hit "submit" for the first time. Why did this happen?
