There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. 2013 RT recall scheduling problems with the dealer

I just got my official letter of recall, printed on May 26th and received on June 4th, wow - how speedy can you get!:yikes:

I called my closest dealer to get on the list and he said he had just ordered 5 kits. As soon as they arrive, he'll set up appointments. I hate to be one of their first guinea pigs, but I'm ready to get this over with.

My dearler said their Can Am tech. is going on vacation for a few weeks so I wont be able to get it done for awhile, I have checked other dealers and there is a few weeks wait, If there is a dealer in the Houston area that reads this and can get it in before this weekend it would be greatly appreciated and that will be the dealer where I get the Can Am Spyder for my wife. The company must have good benefits if the tech is going away on vacation "for a few weeks." Sounds to me that your dealer and the others have decided they don't want to :cus: with it. Let someone else deal with it.

Curious that all the dealers there want to make everyone wait a "few weeks." A discussion with BRP might be in order here.

I am like 1st on the list when the tech. returns, the service manager said go ride as usual it won't hurt anything, he said they have been ridden for 2 summers now. I can't deal with getting burns just to have a ride.

:agree: Why is your dealer letting the Technician take off; right when the folks needing the repairs, are losing more riding time? :gaah: :banghead:

If the Tech had already booked time off then he should take it.People book hollidays make reservations to go some where see things. Were all human and have a life.A few more weeks won,t hurt a thing. After all it,s been a few years.

The vents would surely spiff the bike up a bit. I am thinking a little extra work will have to be done on yours to make it road worthy again. :roflblack::roflblack:

I know you have the issue solved and are happy with the replacement so, glad we can joke about it a bit now.

Stopped at the local dealer today and got mine scheduled for the 25th & 26th. I'll be out of town that week so they'll have it all week +. Takes the pressure off them if they run into problems. Techs haven't done one yet. In fact they weren't even really aware of the recall yet, but he found the info right away. Not that many 13s around the area here, plus the other nearby dealer has been around longer so is probably getting the majority of the work. Tech said, "4 hours flat rate, that means it's an all day job!" :banghead: I'm going to have them do the necessary 12,000 mile work - check valves, change plugs, and change air filter. I've got over 19,000 miles on the :f_spider: so this is a good time to do the 12k maintenance! Since the bike will be made naked on BRP's dime he's not charging me full bore for the 12k work! :ohyea:How sweet is that? I told them about the headlight modulator and air horns. "No problem. We can work with all that easy enough." Great attitude, I say.

I talked to the owner about trading up and asked about resale value of the 2013s. His take was that the heat problem, as a recall item, really doesn't impact the value since the fix will be done whether I own the bike or someone else owns it. He indicated the big drop for 2013 model values is because of the significant technology change from 13 to 14. The better power and torque characteristics, the gas mileage, the longer service intervals, etc., of the 2014s are what really have sunk the 2013 resale value. They aren't seeing any 2014s coming in for trade so finding a used one of them is going to be tough. They have a 2015 RTS Special Edition demo unit booked up solid as a rental unit until October. I might be able to snag it at a good price at the end of the season, and sell my 13 RT next year.

Mac, that sounds pretty encouraging. My dealer has done a few and it now takes him about 3 hours to do it.
FYI, as if you really care! :) Mototech in Boise has been sold to Dennis Dillon so is now Dennis Dillon Powersports. The guys at Birds of Prey in Caldwell said several staff and customers were bailing from them. Travis is still at DD as I understand. BoP is closer to me and will pick up my machine and deliver it when it's fixed.
