2014 Spyder 2014 Rear Noise

I have a 2014 RT with 4,000 miles. It has a metal cluncking noise coming from the rear shock area. I have had two different dealers replace the rear shock twice. Still the noise. It has a air bag, I have tried running no air to inflating bag to 70 psi, could the noise be coming from the air bag? Anyone had or having this problem? :(

Well, something is loose. I would get under there and shake things or have someone push down on the rear and see if you see any unusual movement. It could be a loose shock bolt or some piece of plastic that is loose. Check to see if the brake caliper is tight, axle bolt, air ride link or any other things under the rear of the bike.

My bottom shock bolt came loose about 6 months ago and I fixed it by using two nuts so it wouldn't back off. So far so good. When I first bought the bike home that bolt was not tightened up, just finger tight. Someone had missed it on prep. I would have someone try to move the suspension up and down while you are looking in that area. Another way to locate it is to use a small long tube to your ear. At least that should pinpoint the area. Good luck!

I have seen a thread a while ago about this. Lamont said in that thread that usually any noise like that is the rear tire bearings.

Might be something to check.

Noticed the clunking too

I've also noticed a clunking sound in the rear. Going in for my 3000 mile service Saturday. I thought I would get the tech to check it out while there. Also getting the BRP trailer hitch installed, guess they can check rear bearings then as well. I've also noticed the air pump running frequently. I'll follow up with anything found. :(

Curious..!!

This nose happens when..?? Smooth ryding, rolling, bumpy roads, solo double up..?? If they did replace the shock twice I doubt that the mounting bolts would be loose. There is the leveling arm that is left disconnected on some on the left side of the swingarm around the pivot point. Soon for bearings but a possibility. Seems the shop is not going into it much they should be able to find it. They need to pull all the panels in that area and check under th seat etc. Have a look yourself...

I took bike to shop and had tech look at the air bag. He found that it where it mounted to the swing arm was not connected. Air bag is to be replaced. I will update my post when I get bike back and verify the noise is gone.
Thanks to everyone that responed to my post.
