• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Wiring question

I have purchased a tomtom rider that I am trying to install on my 2012 RS-S. I was thinking about attaching it to the handlebars, but do not know where to draw power from. Does anyone know a good way to run the wire? I was thinking directly off the battery, but I do not want the body panels to rub the casing off the wire. I just finished the 12 volt install in the frunk, and I thought about just keeping it in there because it will be connected to my comm. via bluetooth. If I did that I could not access it while riding. Any info will be greatly appreciated, as automotive electronics is a black art I have no skill in.

Just sayin'............

WIRING

I imagine the Tom Tom and Garmin operate the same as far as power goes ......You can plug in the 12v auto adapter in the frunk socket or get a USB ( E-Bay about $2.00 or less ) and plug that into the frunk......The USB will allow you to use the cord you use to charge from your computer.......That's what I do......Mike

I have a 2008GS, and ran the wires from the battery to a powerlet outlet on the dash; that's where I plug my gps into. It's been that way for about 6 years, and I've never had a problem with the wires chaffing from rubbing the panels. Of course the wires are zip tied to the frame.

Here's what I did..!!

if you have a power outlet in the frunk you can run the charging cord up through the neck and zip it there for use when needed.

the ram mount...gps mounted.. if no power outlet under the front panel left side under the fuse box you will find the connecting wires zipped there. Can pull power from there. It is keyed...

I use my TOMTOM 350 XL-TM on my 2011 RS-S SE5. I used the BRP mount. It was made by RAM at 2 1/2 the cost. I got my Ram Mount Cradle Holder, Ram Mount RAM-HOL-AQ6U Medium-Wide Aqua Box, and CitiGeeks® 3x Anti-Glare Premium Screen Protector for TomTom 4.3" (96x56 mm) Fingerprint for the TomTom from Amazon. Com. they carry a lot of RAM mounts. The TOMTOM wire I run into the frunk to my 12 Volt outlet. When I stop somewhere to eat or shop I can remove the TOMTOM and take it with me and I bought a Ram Mount Locking Knob to keep the cradle safe. Good luck.

Let me add that I installed two powerlet outlets on the dash; one is energized at all times, and the other when the key is on. When I use a battery tender, I just plug into the powerlet that is energized at all times.
