F3 Gas Mileage

OK, I know you don't buy the F3 to be a gas mizer. BUT... Just out of curiosity, what are people getting for MPG? I'm sitting at 30MPG at 860 miles on the odo.
Also, what does Eco mode do? The best I can see is that it tells you when to shift but does nothing else.

Eco mode will save about one to two mpg depending on how well you obey roflblack::roflblack: ) the shift recommendations.

I ran one tank on Eco mode with my RT and that was enough for me. :thumbup:

I know this thread addresses the F3 but I am guessing you will experience similar results.

1600 miles and 34.2 mpg overall. I've run the last several tanks on Eco Mode. I do like to twist the right grip a bit too much!

It varies . . . .

. . . . in town it is 30 to 31 mpg. On my longer trips - 55 (mph plus) for 25 to 50 mile stretches, 35 to 37 mpg. I am just under 2k total miles.

Our gas has ethanol in it. I have not tried Eco yet.

I've been getting about 30-32 MPG with as low as 26 MPG (a ryde up to Tahoe) and as high as 36 MPG. I have a heavy wrist, though. I'd rather have more fun and fill the tank more often. I'm at 1800 miles and counting...

Just done a ride from SC to Sebring, FL. Averaging around 36 at home but this trip was 39.6 and I am sitting at 2200 miles on bike. Used Eco Mode (Electronic Overdrive?) on Interstate running.....

My dealer told me that ECO mode changed ECU calibrations, etc., etc. I think the fact is that all it does is recommend optimal shift rpm for better mpg. My wife used it yesterday on a ride and said that it suggests extremely early shifts and gets into top gear quickly......economical, but no fun!

ECO mode slows the throttle response, and gives you an "Upshift" light to look for...

...Which I found just kept me from looking at where I was going! :yikes:

That makes sense for economy. So, for a given turn of the throttle, you get less fuel delivered. (just the opposite of what a car with sport mode usually does)

Hi all, Just turned the F3 odometer over 1,250 miles on my last ride. Getting between 39 and 44 miles per gallon. The high thirties is up in the mountains chasing two wheeled motorcycles through the twisty stuff. The mid forties is out cruising around doing some sight seeing. I've only used eco mode a couple of times, that sure takes away from throttle response. Real nice that we have a 7 gallon gas tank.

I'm thinking that once it's broken in, I'll fill the tank , put it in eco mode, head on out for a casual ride and see if I can stretch it up to 50mpg! It would be great to be able to say "I got 50mpg"! After that I don't think eco mode will get much use. I guess the other side of that coin would be to go out and ride it like a hooligan for a tank, see how bad I can make it get? Probably be more fun too!

Got almost 8,000 miles on it now and still getting around 30 MPG. It has not changed much.

2017 F3L here, ridden 2-up about 65-70% of the time. Between us, my lady and I weigh 360#. Just over 16,000 miles on the odo now. We ride in Ontario during summer, Florida during winter (and the mountains of TN, NC, WV, VA in between). Pretty much day trips, anywhere from 100-300 miles (we haul it by tag trailer between ON and FL). Rarely if ever use Eco mode, but have always bought 91-93 octane gas. Average experience has been around 39-40 mpg; best was 43.5 mpg US gal. (BTW that's over 50 mpg if you calculate in Imperial gals; works out that we average 6L per 100 km in Canadian lingo). MPG experience has been pretty constant over the 3 years of ownership, ryding mostly on back country roads, staying away from Interstate unless unavoidable. We're not speed demons, but not pokey either - 60 mph +/- is pretty normal. We like challenging trips through rolling land and in the twisties. Weather does affect mpg performance, as does occasionally pulling our light Fibrotech m/c trailer - that can drop mpg by 20%. Overall, I'm rather disappointed when I get as low as 37-38 mpg; much happier when it's 41-42; anywhere in between is pretty much 'Ho-hum' average, and what we have come to expect. It's been pretty routine for us to do gas stops at every 250 mi/400 km and still have some left in the tank. There are 9 bars on the fuel indicator of my dash; I figure each one of them is good for about 25 mi. or 40 km of distance without concern. Hope this helps.
