• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

OEM tires

Why would you want third world tires on your Spyder? Stick with a name brand top tier tire manufacture. Kenda is not and Kuhmo is not much better.

Many run a Michelin with good results, I and several others have started using a Yokohama that i could not be more pleased with.

Made in USA and top quality, Z speed rated tire that took less than 1 oz to balance.

Here, the dealers will not install non-OEM tires.

My past history with 100,000 plus miles.

Fronts: 15K - 20K per set.
Rear: 13K - 15K per set.

The above numbers prior to BRP messing with the tire compound.

Last summer (2014). An alignment issue caused me to put new fronts on the 2011 RT at 11K or so. A rear tire is going to be replaced in a couple weeks. 16.5K on that tire.

My new (2014 RT-S) required a rear tire at 8.9K. The fronts are still looking good at 10K. The replacement tire was supposed to be from the "old" tire compound. We will see what three months of riding brings.

I put 17,000 miles on the front Kendas on my 2010. They were just about used up; but had served me well...
I'm reluctant to call them the piece of crap that many of you do... Other than wear issues; they always kept the air on the proper side of the carcass, and never let me get into any trouble on the highway. Their handling was consistent as the tread wore, and that's more than I can say of some other brands that I've tried.
But that's not to say that there aren't better tires out there... :D

My front Kenda's belts separated internally at 14,000 miles with plenty of tread left. Put on Altimax HP's and they have been fine for 4,000 miles.

Wife and I just put 300+ miles on the Yokohama yesterday on a SRA-LA ride.
Lost of different roads from 75 on the freeway, to twisty canyon roads, and small roads with plenty of pot holes and some sand patches. Not a single issue and in my opinion this tire sticks better to the road than my Kenda did.

Bottom line, I wont be going back to a Kenda on the rear again!
This Yokohama S Drive is a great rear tire in my opinion and I thank other Spyder owners that recommended it to me
