• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Meant to post this on 2/23 but got to involved with snow removal, so I will do it now.

Ira wasn't treated to well, or so it seems to me.

Sadly.....

not many native americans were and yet they contributed a great deal to the war effort. Their language used as code was never broken and saved countless lives. Did see the odd post about the net remembering thaat day. Soon there will be no one from that era....will it be remembered at all..?? We would not be here today if not for them...:bowdown:

:agree: Was at a function about a month ago, mostly military & family of ex-military. nobody knew who Ira Hayes was. Asked the guy playing music for us to play it & he asked me who he was. This guy was in his mid fifties.

Made me sad to find this out at an ex-military function.

A sad situation indeed. I believe that there was a movie made about the soldiers that raised the flag at Iwo Jima. It was sad to watch. Ira Hayes was portrayed as an alcoholic if I am not mistaken.

I saw that same movie, and that's what I remember most, being portrayed as an alcoholic.
