sport rack breakage

Was going to put this in my tie down thread, but it is a seperate topic, so started a new thread.

Went to take to "cover" off of the sport rack to put the back rest in and noticed that the bar where it clips onto to secure was broken. This is on the cover piece, not the sport rack itself.

The actual metal bar was ok, but one of the two "posts", so to speak, that the bar passes through was broken. I would assume there is not a lot of stress at this point, but something caused it to break. There is a hole int he post that the metal bar passes through, it broke off through this hole. Basically 1/2 the hole is there, the bottom piece forming the rest of the hole is gone.

Waiting for the dealer to open to discuss. Any one else had this piece break or am I just lucky ?

Did the rack drop or something? There is no stress on that tab so the breakage would have to be either from impact or bad casting of the part. Hopefully warranty will cover it.
